El Presidente Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I have been fortunate over the past couple of weeks to smoke a plethora of Regional cigars from all over the world: Andorra to Switzerland and countries in between, there was bugger all duds among them and generally they were excellent. A lot of kudos has to go to the distributors (and HSA/Tabacuba) for their attention to detail in getting out some excellent blends/cigars. The question was raised last week at an early morning 3am discussion (yet another one). Your pick as the best two Regional Releases to date that you have tasted? Your pick as the worst two Regional Releases to date that you have tasted?
Lant63 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm sorry, I have to pick three Edmundo Dante 54 (the 109 is comperably as good) Bolivar especiales no 2 Por larranaga legendario Honorable mention to por larranaga regalia de londres, Punch platino, and por larranaga robusto. Worst: Erdm choix de le epoque uk maybe the worst cigar I have ever smoked Vegas robaina sublime Canada Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy
Puros Y Vino Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 My best: La Escepcion Selectos Finos RACF My worst? Not so much that they sucked but I didn't find them all that special. Bolivar Simones Juan Lopez Seleccion No 4 1

finecigar Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best: 1. PL Robusto, Asia Pacifc 2. RA Eshmoun, Lebanon (Right behind are La Escepcion, ERdM Anniversario, and now SP Eslavo showing some fierce competition) Worst: 1. Punch Sir John, Germany 2. Bolivar Emperador, Russia 1
Fuzz Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best 1. PL Encantos 2. RACF Worst 1. RA Phoenicio Libano
canadianbeaver Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best: RA Canada; Punch Belux Worst: Anything German; Israel
nick2021 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best: 1. Edmundo Dante 54 2. RA Gordito Canada Worst: 1. La Flor de Cano Regional Gran Bretana (too light for me) 2. Vegas Robaina Anniversario (probably need to revise this since my last experience with this cigar)
kittipong Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best : PL Magnifico, probably the best cigar I ever smoked RA Phoenicios 2008 Honorable : both Edmundo Dante and PL Regalia De Londre Worst : Punch Sir John Bolivar Armonia China - It was not Bolivar at all.

BonVivant Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 While there are none that can compete with regular production, there were a few exceptions, that could compete with it
Jeremy Festa Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I haven't had enough of a cross section to comment on worst. Probably only 15 to 20 regionals at best. I like the Ramon Allones Celestiales Finos & La Escepcion Selectos Finos the most. Runners ups would be Punch Sabrosos, Por Larranaga Robustos de Larranaga.
Jeremy Festa Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I love this. While there are none that can compete with regular production, there were a few exceptions, that could compete with it There are none. But there are a few. I would put that number more toward 10 to 12 that would compete with regular production, and half a dozen or so that outdo. 1
Ken Gargett Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 My best: La Escepcion Selectos Finos RACF My worst? Not so much that they sucked but I didn't find them all that special. Bolivar Simones Juan Lopez Seleccion No 4 interesting - i'd have the simones as one of my top. with the bushido.
in0gravity Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The Best: 1. Por Larranaga Magnificos ER UK 2. Bolivar Fabulosos ER Benelux The Worst: 1. Sancho Panza Quijote ER Spain 2. Juan Lopez Obus ER France regards Lars
CaptainQuintero Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Best: LFDC short Robusto and PL Robusto Asia. Honorable mention to the Italy PL small Robusto and punch Sabrosos Worst, so far QDO belicoso royal (just a bitter unbalanced hot sour mess) and the QDO Superiores (no idea how they taste, every one I've had so far has been an unsmokeable wind tunnel, utter shocker quality control with these for whatever reason)
Fumadoro Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I honestly haven't smoked enough regionals in general, especially from regions outside of Asia Pacific, to comment with any certainty, but I love the discussion!
godpheonix Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 i'll get back and post my picks, once i smoke my first ones of the Edmundo Dantes 54, seletos finos and a few others i haven't had time to try yet. but as of now, the SLR pacificos and the Juan lopez No. 4 are top dog. least favorite would be PL encantos. just not ready yet.
wabashcr Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Andorra to Switzerland and countries in between So, France then? I don't smoke many regionals, but I do enjoy the PL Encantos and RA Gorditos. 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 So, France then? LOL I gave Rob a French RE, so yes! Great question and it is tough to pick just two for each. My Top 2 would be La Escepcion RE Italia SLR Pacifcos RE Asia Pacific. Honorable Mention - JL Sel. No. 5 RE Andorra, Punch Superfinos RE Italia, Bolivar Simones RE Canada (OR from 2007 50 cab) My Bottom 2 would definitely be Juan Lopez Obus RE Francia Sancho Panza Quijote RE Espana Dishonorable Mention - VR Petit Unicos RE Suiza, Fonseca Amateur RE Francia
Zigatoh Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Top 2 - Por larranaga legendarios Ramon allones phoenicia 2008 Bottom 2 - Hard to pick, but never had a good jl, punch, erdm or fonseca regional - but that's the same in the standard lineup for me too!
avaldes Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I haven't had many, but two that I liked and would keep buying if available were Bolivar Especiales #2 and RACF's. I stocked up on both and sadly ran out earlier this year.
cottierm Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Worst (at least as far as I am concerned): El Rey del Mundo Netherland No. 1, 2011.
HarveyBoulevard Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I don't ever buy RE's but the 2014 SP Eslavo was in a 109 format so I couldn't help myself. So, I can't answer the entire question but I can sure say that the Sancho Panza Eslavo RE 2014 is a FANTASTIC cigar. Bugger is it only comes in a 50 cab so it ain't exactly cheap. I'm going to stop buying RE's since I am batting 1000!! 1
