coronacigar Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I was wondering what others have to say about the Quai D'Orsay Gran Corona. I smoked one today and it was absolutely amazing. From Boxcode POS MAY 06 I just wish I had more of these, the flavors were absolutely spot on perfect example of QdO profile. Tons of complex QdO flavors coating my palette. It has got to be one of the most enjoyable QdO's I've had the pleasure of smoking. 1
JohnS Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 As I have come to the joys of cigar smoking later than when you picked these up I am glad for you. Then I researched this marca on Cuban Cigar Website and found out that you've picked up a box very close to the date that it was discontinued. At this point, I say congratulations, and all the best in making that box last as long as possible! 2
Maplepie Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 POS Ah cigars... The only place where a POS would be a good thing 3
coronacigar Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Thank you, amazing cigars. This POS is incredible, LOL. but on a serious note I have some QdO POS 06 Panatelas that are smoking excellent as well! Not plugged, the draw was spot on perfect! Very grateful to have I will treasure
littlepea Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 My favourite discontinued cigar, along with BCE and party charlottes. 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 POS was a great code for QdO cigars. Has lots of POS panetelas that were spectacular, the Imperiales were good too. Haven't found the Gran Corona at all yet. ....but i will....
Duxnutz Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I have several handfuls of these and they are truly a delight. I only smoke them with nice sparkling/champagne. Try it if you haven't!
stunod Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Never had QdO, but from what's on the forum, they need some serious time in the humi.
CaptainQuintero Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I love QdO fresh and aged. Fresh they are rich lemon grass and vanilla, aged they delicate, custardy cream and citrus 2
PigFish Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I have not had much luck with these, but sometimes cigars run like that. I am a big fan of the coronas, one of the best Habanos still made (MHO). -the Pig 3
Orion21 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I love these cigars. Constrction quality has been their main issue, but when they're on they're a fantastic cigar. 1
mk05 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Forget about these cigars. Let's talk about how good the MUO14 Cohiba Robustos are instead? 1
JohnS Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Forget about these cigars. Let's talk about how good the MUO14 Cohiba Robustos are instead? Yeah...these are good now, and no doubt even better in 2022!
smokenj Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I have only had one GC, but it was amazing. It was gifted, so I'm not sure if the box code. I always have the Coronas on hand and just ordered a box of Imperiales.
mk05 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Yes everyone go get MUO14 Cohiba Robusto! Forget about the Gran Coronas. 1
coronacigar Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Yes everyone go get MUO14 Cohiba Robusto! Forget about the Gran Coronas. MUO oh yeahhhhhh! Wink
LGC Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I pulled one out of a 2001 box today. I'd score it a 6/10. It was a pleasant smoke, but offered up more in the way of aromas, rather than flavors. It was a little sweet, with floral and citrusy flavors, and a litte black pepper towards the end. The panatela is still my favorite.
RijkdeGooier Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I smoked 2000 GC QdO. They were good tasteless but plugged, so not exceptional. Prefer both panatella and Imperiales over these.
tmac77 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Yes everyone go get MUO14 Cohiba Robusto! Forget about the Gran Coronas. I will take the Q d'O GC any day of the week over a Cohiba regardless of box code and year. 1
Blakes Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Never had the chance to try the GC but enjoy the Coronas and Panetellas. Got a few Imperiales coming in from a box split which I'm keen to try.
Lotusguy Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Had some from 2001 and really enjoyed the ones that were not plugged
Dimmers Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Guys don't bother, I have the same boxcode (but an August box) here and it is god awful. Am happy to perform a community service by accepting similar boxes for suitable 'disposal' 1
