markmurase Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Di there's a WWII P51 Mustang up at Caboolture that they do joy flights in. It's a beautiful aircraft and I would thoroughly recommend it. The only thing is I think from memory he's quite reluctant to fly in anything smaller than a Boeing737? If you want the Mustangs contact details, let me know! Dave I like the WWII Mustang idea. A truly memorable experience - especially if you ask the pilot to 'throw it around a bit'. I'm sure Rob would love some loops and rolls 1
OZCUBAN Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 How about a real nice expensive bottle Japanese whisky it's the best or a week in Bali with the WA CREW??
CaptainQuintero Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Can you do those hand glider/microflight trips where you fly alongside bird formations etc?
rbelcastro Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hey Di. Since he likes technology, how about a smart watch? My wife got me the Asus for Christmas and I love it. I can change the faces on it so it's like a new watch everyday. Also, my nose isn't burried in my phone constantly(which my wife likes). Lots of other good ideas here.
OleOle Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 If you are considering a fountain pen then this pen springs to mind, it is unique, flawless, rugged and writes superbly: http://www.goldspot.com/products/visconti-homo-sapiens-volcanic-lava-black-with-bronze-trim-broad-point-fountain-pen Here's a review of it by, ahem, pen aficionados: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/234529-visconti-homo-sapiens-bronze/ Or check out some quality leather gear. This website even has some cigar-related items which might appeal but if you are travelling or Rob just needs a hard-wearing but stylish bag to haul things around, then maybe this maduro, I mean walnut, coloured bag might work: http://www.ghurka.com/cavalier-ii-leather-duffel-bag-walnut http://www.ghurka.com/connoisseur-series Visconti and Ghurka are high quality brands that don't scream "look at me!" or "I'm a brand slave!" so there's a certain amount of understated elegance associated with them while still being very well made, fit for purpose and they should last a lifetime. Just a thought or two. Good luck with it all.
Mckucci Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 A new watch maybe? Every man deserves a nice automatic timepiece., and for his 50th birthday, its the perfect opportunity!
Vinnyc Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I know it's a bit short notice but sometimes that's the best and Rob likes his rugby Union why not the Las Vegas 7s http://m.usasevens.com It's not about things I believe it's experiences we remember in life. That's what makes you happy is experiences. The other option is Google a list of festivals in Oz and do a month of a diferent festival each weekend. You have stupid ones like the beer can boat festival in Darwin http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_Beer_Can_Regatta And you have the 10 day festival which is in Tasmania http://www.tendays.org.au These are just off a quick google. Be fun to do things that you don't narally do and experience them with the people you live to have around you. 1
riazp Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Di, May I suggest going on NFL Shop and ordering him a custom Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey. With the link below you can customize it with name and Number...Like Ayala #69 seems fitting. Just a thought I know he loves that horrible team! http://www.nflshop.com/Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers_Jerseys/Nike_Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers_Customized_Elite_Throwback_Jersey_-_Orange_Glaze
moryc Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 If he likes music, a turntable. There is nothing like listening to your favorite music on vinyl. 2
skarolla Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I was eyeing up this bartenders knife for myself. Made specifically for cutting fruit for cocktails, yes rum and coke counts. $80 US = too expensive to buy for myself but what an excellent gift. https://www.rmurphyknives.com/cgi-bin/sc/ss_mb.cgi?storeid=*1eda9404430a2848746125b6648fa4b569&ss_parm=Ae843c7b8c30f888718950da4d6fa6786 Or if you want to blow some serious cash this is an absolutely gorgeous ashtray ($300USD) http://www.nobinoue.com/International/AshTray.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

DrPartagas Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 If Rob likes American football or baseball, check out the website to find lovely retro jerseys of great players from all teams of the past. You might be able to find his favorite player and the jersey to match. http://www.mitchellandness.com/ They make really nice stuff.
cigcars Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Get him a massage. He will love it. I agree with that. A good TWO HOUR massage from a pretty Japanese lady! Mrs. Ayala will be understanding, won't she? 1
Hash Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 A Dunhill lighter , maybe engraved, that way he will remember you every time he lights a cigar.
DoubleDD Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 A white gold Rolex President for El Prez would be extremely classy. However, it's very costly.
Drguano Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This may help all concerned if things go dreadfully wrong on the prezzie front...
Maplepie Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Why not a sweater you knit yourself? Or an exotic pet like a suckling pig?
Jeremy Festa Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Why not a sweater you knit yourself? Or an exotic pet like a suckling pig? It's subtropical Brisbane Jeremy. We don't need sweaters. And Rob would totally barbecue that pig! Sent from my iPhone 3
CanuckSARTech Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 A spring fishing trip to upper Ontario, Canada!!!! Great smallmouth bass fishing! Or, spring or fall wild-turkey hunting.
