Popular Post ChanceSchmerr Posted October 9, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2014 Hey Guys, I will try my best to chronicle my time in London and subsequent travels in a separate thread, but here's what you probably really want to see - the Cigars I've been able to pick up! First, Cigars found in various London B&M's, before I ventured out beyond the UK! Here's some Aged Tubos - An aged Upmann Monarch, A Boli Churchill (never thought I'd see one!), an 80's Romeo tubo No.2, and an 80's Punch Petit Coronations. I've only smoked the Boli Churchill...middling smoke, sadly. At least I won't have to go buy more! How about a nice lineup of aged/rare cigars? From left, a 1995 Upman...Super Corona? I'd have to go back and see what it was. Maybe it's just a Corona. It was from '95, that's for sure. 2000 Sancho Corona, 2014 Sancho Non Plus (to see how they are now), 2 Upmann Coronas from '02, 2 Punch Tres Petit Coronas with a Punch Margarita in between, a Punch Corona from a 50 cab and 2 aged SP Molinos. Smoked one of the Molinos - I need to get a box of them LOL. Oh, and a RA Gigantes from '01 across the bottom. Continuing - a '97 Monte No. 3, 3 Ramon Allones Coronas, 3 Partagas 898 Unvarnished. Last three are my all-time faves, the SLR PC from a 50 cab. If these are good, I'm going for the rest of the cab. Some REs! JL Selección Suprema RE, Sancho Panza Quixote RE from Spain, a rare PL Legendarios RE (there were two but I smoked one with Guy - will push HARD to find a box of these now), an RA Petit Belicoso, and an RACF (the RA band slipped off on my way home....that's ok) Last but not least - a Half box of Partagas Coronas from 2002. LOVE these, got the half box on first sight. Smoked one, they are excellent. 12
Popular Post ChanceSchmerr Posted October 9, 2014 Author Popular Post Posted October 9, 2014 Our first trip from London (aside from a side trip to Bath, Wells, Cheddar and Stonehenge) was a few delightful days in the south of France to visit mon ami Guy (laficion). We had a really wonderful time with Guy and his wife, and Guy also took me to his favourite local B&M. I think the shopkeeper is now a fan of mine... First up - I'm no Fonseca fan, but I thought - a 10 box of RE's ? What the hey. Fonseca Amateurs RE Francia. Then, I noticed the big Kahunas...the Bolivar Liberatadores, the RE's from 07/08. I pounced on all he had - a part box and a couple of lighter-shade wrappers from a different box than he had in the singles drawers. After that...I pretty much raided his singles drawers for whatever RE's he had. I bought out pretty much his remaining RE stock. Some ones I didn't think I'd find...even though some I wanted to find (the JL minuto, the QdO RE's) weren't there. Oh yeah, and he had one solitary Partagas LE form 2004. Not letting that one go by! Yoink! How about some Punch Small Clubs REs? I hate the petit Robustos, but I'll try these for a larf. Those ERDM Petit Companias looked like lovely companions. These RA Especiales RE's were a real find, I'm excited to try these ones. I guess I bought so many that the shopkeeper gave me this tattered JL Obus RE for free (I wasn't going to buy it, regardless. Pretty beat up. It's probably smoke fine though). He also gifted Guy a Boli RE as well, he seemed like quite the swell fella. France was awesome!!! Big thanks again to Guy for hosting us while we were there 11
ChanceSchmerr Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Last weekend, we jumped off to Amsterdam for the weekend. More on that in my other column (coming soon). Here's the cigars I picked up! Only one I really wanted that they didn't have was the RA Gran Robusto RE's from 08. Hopefully I can find these somewhere soon... Starting off with the Biggies - Bolivar Poderosos RE. Normally not a big stick guy, but I love the Rodolfo size for some reason. Next - I do not like the Magicos Size. Short Robustos...meh. That said, I figured ERDM RE's are worth a try in the 10 box, similar to the Fonsecas. Here's a lil' 10'er of ERDM NL No. 1 RE's Now here's some I really wanted after smoking one I traded for from Enis (Thanks again man!) The Punch Royal RE. Here's something really special - Joe (Blackham) had just been to Andorra, and offered to pick me up a box that I sorely regretted not getting last time I was in Andorra - the H Upmann No. 1. How many of THOSE do you see hanging around? Joe picked out the best box for me and dropped it off at the LCDH for me to collect. Thanks so much, Joe, I really appreciate this again! Check out the Anila! Finishing off with the singles! A nice stack of Punch Royals (so I don't crack my box soon), A few Poderosos (ditto), A couple of RA Robusto Cortos REs (again - hate the size, I'll try a couple to be sure), Fonseca REs from Benelux (Let's try these before getting a damn box, seeing as it's a 25 box), a LGC Inmensos (FINALLY get to try this one - have never had one yet!), Partagas Presidentes (only because I had a single and it got damaged during my travels - this way I have a freshy) More singles - the LCDH's last ERDM Coronas de Luxe. He had a full box, but had to send it out to a buyer in China who had ordered his 2nd last box, but that box had been lost in the mail. Can't blame the LCDH for sending it to him instead of me, and I really appreciate that the vendor did that in case of loss of shipment. Anyway, I got these 9 last SXF 05's. A couple of ERDM Lunch Clubs, to try them out one last time. Smoked one today - still don't like these! Love the PC's and Coronas, but these Lunch Clubs are always hard and acrid to me. I don't get it. And these with plenty of age! Bolivar Lonsdales from the mid-late 90s. I bought the 8 he had left - the other 5 were for friends. I kept 3. Lastly - 1982 Partagas Corona Juniors Tubos. Check out the cool tax stamp in the old Dutch currency! Sweet! 4
