Just got a new job... Roughly a 45% raise from my old gig... Me and my girlfriend had a celebration dinner here in DC... As the dinner progressed my girlfriend noticed me picking up my phone numerous

Of which I've never done... the crack part that is. Just a stereotypical reference. But you get the gist... I will go broke. I will be divorced. But I'll have a sh*tload of cigars to smoke!

-Exhilerating. -You meet tonnes of interesting people -Have to find a perfect dealer -The government keeps trying to take it away from you -You go to other people's place to sample 'their stuff'

I have to agree - I haven't been at it long at all and it is utterly addictive for so many reasons.

I have also come to the conclusion that the correct number of cigars to own is N+1 where N is the number of cigars (or boxes of) you already own.....

I'm glad I'm not alone in this struggle. I actually used this mathematical argument to explain the situation to my wife just recently. Let's just say she was less than enthused (more like pissed).

I know my addiction has become a problem as cigars are all I think about, and not necessarily smoking them, more so acquiring them. My local tobacconist told me recently that it wasn't necessary to own more than a desktop humidor. I nearly replied, "clearly you've never bought a box of CCs".

Thank goodness for these testimonies guys lol makes me feel less guilty about enjoying this hobby :) My best defense against the inquiring mind of my gf or women in particular is this: Look at this crazy deal i'm getting and look how expensive it is to buy a single at the cigar shop! ;) "

Most women will rationalize and then identify with you that a great deal on expensive stuff just cannot be missed :) - Just mention what if that expensive Tiffany jewellry or that gorgeous Prada bag i got you last month could be purchased two-three times cheaper and totally be the real deal? :D Then just sit and watch her squirm..muahahahahah

I knew I was in trouble when I bought a box of cigars that I knew needed a little time to smooth out before I smoked them. So I bought a box of the same cigar that was listed as aged stock. The aged sticks were so good that I bought another box of cigars so as not to burn through the aged box too quickly.

Made sense to me.

My wife ignores it for the most part. Of course if I can't pay the bills then that would rapidly change. I am just basically building an inventory of good smokes. Of course way more then I can smoke myself reasonably. But then they have time to season and age and I am good with that. I have a list of what I'd like to add to the collection and look for attractive opportunities as they come. I feel the best though when I have some nice boxes on the way.

I started out with a 100 stick humidor, then bought a second desktop humidor. Last summer I converted a 12 bottle wine fridge, for Christmas my gf got me a 28 bottle new air wine fridge and the cedar shelves and drawers. Here I am 8 months later and my new air is just about full. More cigars than I will smoke in the next few years but I get a kick just walking by my wineador 5 times a day and just enjoying the view. It's also a great feeling when a new box of ccs arrive at my door. Safe to say I have an addiction. I may need to find a remote location to store future purchases!

I don't want to talk about it... I'm not as bad as some of the other guys... I don't have a problem, I don't have a problem, I don't have a problem...

I think I'll buy another box to make myself feel better about it. Just one more...

And I shouldn't forget my old tried and true excuse: "I can quit any time I want to... I just don't want to."

I used to live away from family in a 2br apartment and all my cigars were in the "Clutter-Office" that no one used except the cat. Nobody had really seen my collection or wondered about it.

Now that I've moved closer to family and my cigars have taken a front row in the great room everyone knows my obsession!

Funny story from this past Labor day when I was at work. My father-in-law that likes to smoke 1-3 cigars a day and buys whatever he can get his hands on goes out to buy some cigars and all the shops are closed due to the holiday. He then turns to his wife and asks if she has the SPARE KEY to my house so he can grab a "FEW CIGARS"!!! Luckily we have a hide-a-key that only my wife and I know about but that could have been disastrous!

In all honesty I know he would have called me first but the fact he thought that my house was as good as a local shop further validates my cigar addiction.

"Just a few" then becomes a box once he sees some of those glorious CCs lying around. He won't even notice if I take a box, he's got so many. That's when you need an up-to-date inventory to prevent any filching from relatives haha.

Finally checked out the boards back in July I believe and stumbled across a 12:12 thread. Had no idea what it meant and still don't have a clue of what the significance of the 12:12. All I know is that I started buying boxes. Lots of them. Lets just say I will likely stil be getting deliveries through November, but only if I quit ordering more.

Just got a new job... Roughly a 45% raise from my old gig... Me and my girlfriend had a celebration dinner here in DC... As the dinner progressed my girlfriend noticed me picking up my phone numerous times smiling into my screen... She smiled and said "You told your parents didn't you? I know their excited baby! Tell your mom I said hi!" I reached across the table intimately grabbed her hand looked her straight in eyes and said: "Baby, Rob just put up a 12:12 over nighter for a box of HDM EPI 2's for only $168.00, and I can afford them!" She gently smiled and told me: "I'll pick up the check, it's your day baby"...... I'm marrying this girl!!!!

oh my god... If i was a tad more emotional, i'd actually cry at this story.

Seriously... That made me smile to no end.

I live here and don't frequent many shops in the Milwaukee area. Not that they are bad, but I've never been inspired by one. The shop in Delafield, WI is the one I go to most often. They are a nice, upscale place with a decent NC selection

I'm getting worse with all these PSP and HQ offerings.

Rob's PSP grade is what encouraged me to explore regular production boxes to set aside and age...

There are some nice ones in the Humi I gently caress every now and again while the missus is out :)

...joy, still got lots of room "for my recovery" lol
