Just blasted a Monte Double Edmundo in 1 hour...

I know damn well thats too quick. But it was a hell of a cigar! I knocked them when they first came out but i think they are starting to come in to their own.

Maybe i will light another just to be sure! Lol

Happy easter everybody!

A cigar should be smoked slowly IMHO. you have to puff, kiss if you wish, breath into the cigar, no suck the soul out of it!!!!

If you smoke too quick the cigar will heat up too much killing some of the flavor. That has been my experience at least...

Next time make sure you have the time to enjoy it, look at it, take advantage of it. ;).

Hey if you enjoyed it then it doesn't matter how much or how little it lasted you..we all have different cigar experiences

I think you should smoke however you enjoy smoking.

But if you enjoyed that in one hour, can you imagine how you would have liked it if you had slowed down.

This is from someone who goes through a Luisi in one hour. :-)

Do what tastes good to you. I think the only "preference" and it's a loose one at that, is to go at a pace that at least keeps the thing burning, avoiding relights (although relighting is no sin).

For me, I like going slower rather than faster and it helps settle the cigar in the softer, sometimes fainter flavors and complexities. A little bit of rush can bring out the sharper flavors and really hustling along with always make a stogie burn hot and taste powerful sharp and strong. If that's what you like with your Thai food (renown for it's spiciness, get it? :P) then by all means go right ahead. One of my regular compadres in cigar land always finishes his Churchill in half the time as I. Meanwhile I frequently don't enjoy the final third of most cigars. Different strokes and all that! cigar.gif

Agree with all the comments that came after mine ;).

That was only my opinion and the way I like though...everybody is different!! You guys are all correct about that!! :)

Maybe that was the way to actually get some flavor out of those vapid sticks :lookaround:

Lol thanks for the comments guys...

I would normally spend 1.5 hours on a stick that size but probably the cold weather and the fact it was smoking great made me wipe it out in such a short period of time.

Hell i have had petit coronas that last me over an hour!

Took me an hour to smoke a minuto yesterday. Do what you like but try it slower and see if you're picking up any different flavors. I think you'll find the experience and tastes are much improved.

Generally I enjoy a slower smoke but sometimes a cigar just seems to zip away fast no matter how slow I try to smoke it with no noticeable negative affect in flavour smile.png

I just had a BBF do exactly that!

Or like quite a few of the recent large Ring gauge cigars I have had recently they were under filled.

Who gives a **** if you smoked to fast or to slow. All the rules on how you should enjoy a cigar are silly. If you enjoyed the smoke that's all that matters

there are always ways to help one improve to a certain point.

Example:

me learning about purging.

Smoke any way you like their is no science to smoking a cigar or time limit .. The main thing is to enjoy your smoke ..

Took a good long time with an Upmann PC the other day. Realistically, should have been under an hour but I was enjoying it so much. Had to make it last...I seriously think I was in the 1.75-2 hour range on that one!

I must say, learning about purging really gave me a complete 180 on a few cigars I previously despised.

Purging simply means blowing out of the cigar right?

Aye. Steady stream out the cigar to clear it of its final third blues.

Rarely needed before the final third and rarely not used in the final sixth (if you get there ;))

Someone here suggested holding a soft flame to the smoke as you purge to "burn off" the tar as you purge. I've been trying this and think it is a good technique. Completely eliminates the bitterness of the final third in a young cigar. The puff after doing this and waiting a sec for the cigar to cool is an amazing blast of the true flavours of the stick. Others may dislike this technique and who am I to disagree with others greater experience and knowledge but for me it works great
