El Presidente Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Thank you for all those who submitted their blind picks for cigar number 4 If you did send me your pick and I didn't list it, forward me again the original e-mail and I will list it. I am pretty sure I got everybody. Well cigar Number 4 proved to be the hardest of the lot with only one correct entry.......congratulation Dimitri Some of you loved it...some of you hated it and such is the world of cigars. Many of you nailed the same flavour profiles and came to different conclusions....such is the world of cigars Now we have one outright leader on 3 out of 4 (Famous) and a fair few on 2 out of 4.......you guys can tie it up on number 5 and share the spoils. Please get your last pick to me by the end of October! Cigar Number 4 .......Hoyo De Monterey Le Hoyo Du Prince BRA NOV 12
Blakes Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Well I never!!! Again I was sure I had this one in the bag.. I even smoked a PLPC (which I thought it was) the next day and I though "yep, that's the one" Never mind, I'll have to pull my sock's up for next years comp!
Jeremy Festa Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Holy dooley!!! Only one person got it? Top marks Dimitri
Jeremy Festa Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Hahaha. Hang on a second now! I'm onto you mate! Post your reviews here Do not post the cigar....just e-mail me your Pick. As I am in the warehouse next week I probably won't acknowledge receipt of your e-mail but rest assured it is recorded. Yes it is a Petit Corona/Mareva....that is as much as I am saying Lead down the garden path!
zmancbr Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Well I never!!! Again I was sure I had this one in the bag.. I even smoked a PLPC (which I thought it was) the next day and I though "yep, that's the one" Never mind, I'll have to pull my sock's up for next years comp! I did the exact same thing...but I was torn when I emailed Prez my vote. I never would've guessed the Hoyo. My second guess was RyJ MF or something else sweet and floral like that.
lancerv43 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Haha that is a bit of a surprise. I honestly was almost positive that the hoyo du prince was the cigar until my decision was swayed by the petit corona/mareva comment rob made. After that I changed my educated guess to a complete random guess because I thought the hoyo du prince was considered a corona and not a petit corona. I guess I should have stuck with my gut.
mbrody Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Ha! That was my guess until decided to change to a plpc at the zero hour! Should have went with my gut. Did the same thing with cigar 3 and botched that. Congrats Dimitri!
Dimmers Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Well now, didn’t expect that! I’m loving my 2011 Du Prince cab atm, and though I felt elements of No4’s DNA were similar in some respects, it was never a sure pick. Thanks chaps! As ever, this comp is a humbling experience - I am a "big" Unicos though ive only tasted from maybe 5 diff boxes (ie id like to think i could spot the taste easily). Yet never would have picked it in a million yrs for cigar No3 . *humblepieeaten*
El Presidente Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Hahaha. Hang on a second now! I'm onto you mate! Lead down the garden path! Greg from CA was right.....I am full of it Always go with your gut
Fuzz AI Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 No way that was a Le Hoyo Prince! I had one just the other day and cigar #4 tasted nothing like it.
TheBaron Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 That board is starting to look like my bank account—red everywhere! I'm seriously useless at this. Oh well, time to tell the missus I need more CC training. If I don't get the green light with No.5, I'm changing my name to 'Red' Baron
Habanos2000 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The only consolation I can come up with for being 0-4 is that at least I've never smoked any of these before. Congrats to Dimitri for being correct!
nikesupremedunk Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 No f'n way...unless Cohiba and Hoyo shares the same blend for their petit coronas! Mine tasted like a sig 2 from the beginning to the end...and honestly, I didn't even know there was a PC in the Hoyo line up!
amosnaim Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Wow. It wasn't even in my second and third chioces. Congrats Dimitri! Onto cigar number 5 - i am not going to let this competition slip out from me... Cheers guys
Coolio Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I was officially a mile, 1.61 km, 1610 metres or 5280 feet off!
Jeremy Festa Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I was officially a mile, 1.61 km, 1610 metres or 5280 feet off! Actually only 2mm in ring gauge and 1mm in length! ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Tino Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Didn't even consider it as an option Spent my time agonising between PLPC and BPC. Also batting 0-4, heading for 0-5!!
Smallclub Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Once again, I'm surprised to see people putting their picks on cigars that are always box pressed (such as Monte 4, Upmann pc, RG pc, JL pc, etc.) when the cigar was clearly perfectly round…
vondegroot Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Well, that was definitely a surprise! I haven't smoked many HdM's, so THAT must be why I couldn't pin it down, hahahah!
Drguano Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 It is an honor to be tied with Riazp and the only one to guess that No. 4 was a Jose Piedra Petit Corona.
