Squali Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I'm looking for a small , stylish ,reliable torch lighter . I've had 3 , Little Buddies , and none of them has held up . I like the size of them but haven't had any luck with them . Can't remember where I got them , but they were good about replacing them . Somewhere on Amazon I think . Any suggestions ?
CaptainQuintero Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 z-plus zippo butane inserts, about $10 each, either single or double torch or a soft flame choice, you can put them into any zippo case of your choice 1
Fuzz Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Surprised your Blazer isn't holding up. I've got the Blazer PB-207 (now just called The Torch), and that's lasted me for about 4 years with no problems. A good slim lighter is the Xikar Axia. Been using one for about a year and it works great. Fuel tank may be a little on the small side, but good for a half dozen cigars before needing a top up.
jimb2u Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 ST DuPont Minijet or Maxijet X2 Big fan of the maxi jets. Very reliable and they hold a surprising amount of Butane
CigarAsh Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I've found that what is more important is using quality butane so the torch jets don't clog. I use cans of quintuple refined butane and haven't had a lighter problem since. My favorite is a Xikar triple torch table top the wife gave me for my birthday.
seamus Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 ST DuPont Minijet or Maxijet Only lighter that's not let me down. I've had Colibri, Prometheus and a few others and they all broke.
Blakes Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 ST DuPont Minijet or Maxijet Well worth the money, can't count the amount of times I dropped it/stood on it etc... still never failed me once.

TheGipper Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Every spendy lighter I've ever bought has broken eventually. So no more wasting money on expensive lighters for me. You can find these for $3-$4 at Walmart: http://www.amazon.com/Ronson-Jetlite-Butane-Torch-Lighter/dp/B006G1KVQ0 Every bit as good as the $85 Colibri or the $60 Xikar or the many others I've overpaid for.

This x1000 I have 4 of them right now if I lose one its no big deal
Philprop Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I have a couple of Firebird by Colibri lighters, paid $20 for each and they're both awesome. My favorite of the two only has one flaw, no fuel window, so it's hard to know when it's going to run out. Bt I've figured it out that usually I get to light 3 cigars with it, that includes touch ups if needed. That ne also has a little light on it too which for some reason always makes me grab that one when I head out somewhere for the night and plan on smoking.
UpInSmoak Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Maxijet all the way. Very precise flame, and very dependable. If you search online you can find them discounted quite a bit.
Poohdawg Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Love my maxijet, purchased online for under $100. Any triple refined butane will work for refills, the ST Dupont stuff is very expensive.
al321 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Agree on the maxijet...a little more expensive up front, but cheaper in the long run.
Skyfall Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I use a Xikar HC Edition 3 flame table lighter for groups. For everyday use I love my Colibri 3 jet lighter that has 2 different sized spring loaded punches built in the bottom. I've used this Colobri for 12 years with zero issues, and I have another Colibri I've had for 15 years also without any problems.
Cohiba Stevie Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I will pop another vote for the maxijet, I think if you look anywhere online you will see people singing its praises. If you dont however want to spend that type of money I seriously suggest looking at the xikar tech series. I used to hate xikar lighters but their customer service and their tech lighters turned me round. I also understand the palio lighter is getting some good feedback.
Squali Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 Thanks for the feedback guys . I'll probably go by WalMart tomorrow and pick up something for the short term . The S T DuPont seems to be getting a lot of votes from the majority . I like what I've seen so far . How about pros and cons --- mini jet vs maxi jet ?
poorman Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Check out JetLine $20 or so. My golfcourse and everyday light.
DrunkenMonkey Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 It's true that xikar's warranty service is great. I know that because I've sent my xikar lighter back to them 4 times. It's true they've always replaced it, but... I've had to send it back 4 times.
JohnnyChong Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Maxijet. The most reliable lighter I've owned by a country mile.
andy Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Another vote for maxijet. It is just quality. Not had a problen in over 3 years.
BradNC Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I had a maxijet for years after having to send back my xikar lighter a few times. Eventually it stopped working (the maxijet). I went with the IM corona soft flame cigar lighter after that. If I bought another torch lighter, it would probably be another maxijet.
Upnorth3 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Where online can you find the Maxi's for less than 100, I've been looking and it's always a little over even on sale.
