Habana Mike Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 And here I thought is was only us Staters getting fat. http://www.heraldsun...x-1226696246547 According to an Irish study http://ffwireland.bl...pidemic-of.html it appears fluoride is actually contibuting to the problems of obesity and diabetes. What is even more concerning to me is that the US National Institute of "Health" is proposing a fluoride-like strategy to combat obesity. They even deemed this approach the FLUORIDE project: For Lowering Universal Obesity Rates are Implement ideas that Don't demand Effort: http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/15234599 Would have thought that a joke if it wasn't a real National Center for Biotechnical Information government website. If nothing else I expect Oz to see some Bloomberg-conian legislation on Cokes and chips.....oh, wait - that's already underway too http://www.diabetesa...dia Release.pdf
Dimmers Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 There is some irony in detail you report above (that you may not be aware of). Bundaberg has long resisted flouride being added to its water, deriding it as being the cause of a whole raft of health issues. In fact the region is one of the few remaining Australia wide i think that does not have flouride its water - apart a very short period recently where it was introduced and then quickly removed becuase of the backlash. So for Bundy at least fluoride isnt part of its obesity problem.
Fuzz Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Riiiight. Fluorides are the cause/cure for obesity. Do any one these so called "experts" ever think that we're getting to be a bunch of barge-arses because we're; eating more fatty foods, parking our well-endowed keisters in front of the TV/computer/tablet for hours on end, and doing bugger all about except blame somebody else for our ever-expanding waistlines? Next they're gonna tell you that oxygen makes you fat.
LordAnubis Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Plain package Fast Food and stop advertising it, then jack up tax on those products really high. That's clearly the solution.
MatthewB Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Plain package Fast Food and stop advertising it, then jack up tax on those products really high. That's clearly the solution. That sounds like the solution that will solve this problem....You have my vote in Sep.
LordAnubis Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 That sounds like the solution that will solve this problem....You have my vote in Sep. Just imagine. Diarrhea brown boards everywhere with plain text and all menus will just have plain text and pictures of fatties everywhere. Ohh and tax will be $450/callorie for all items. So a big mac meal will either be the size of a 2dollar coin, or cost 4 million dollars. It's hard for people like us. We have more brain cells than the maximum allowable limit (which is currently 0... financial crisis and all) to become a politician.
Fuzz Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Why stop there people? Plain package everything that is enjoyable, interesting, tasty or even remotely fun! Every store in the shopping malls will be all drab brown, standard font signs, no special lights or advertising, with the goods hidden from view.

Don't be silly Heart disease was the cause of 33 % of the deaths in Australia (in 2011 anyway... according to the ABS). Most of these would be due to obesity. Lung cancer was the cause of 8% of deaths. Yet tobacco is taxed. I have a strong feeling that intelligent life out in the universe just watch the idiots in this world for entertainment. And we have two of them fighting for leadership of our country. The aliens are going to die of laughter. Allah save us !!
Smallclub Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Plain package Fast Food and stop advertising it, don't forget the sodas with their colossal sugar contents…
OZCUBAN Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Funny how oxygen keeps us alive and yet is also a poison

Funny how oxygen keeps us alive and yet is also a poison Too much of anything is bound to kill you.
Blakes Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 You know they're thinking of taxing sex?I mean, sex is after all, the leading cause of death... The funny thing is there has been a lot of talk recently in the news over here about over population... you might not be that far off the mark! LOL

LOL Please. England over-populated? Ask any Indian or Chinese and they will say you country is dangerously under-populated!!
CaptainQuintero Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 A guy at the pub a few days ago was on about Fluoride, how it was added to the water supply in the concentration camps as it causes lethargy and hence less ability to cause trouble. How it used to be illegal to be added to water in the US because of the damage to health it can cause when artificially added and not begin naturally occurring. Until **** Cheney got into office then it was passed through under a different bill. **** Cheney being an ex-CEO of an aluminium giant. Fluoride being a by product of the aluminium processing industry. Not sure where the pub guy was heading with the conversation as I had to leave before he reached the end!
Blakes Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 There was a documentary I remember watching on Fluoride been added to water supply's.. the motives for it certainly seem questionable.
ramon_cojones Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I use a fluoride free toothpaste and drink flitered water with no fluoride, true story.
westg Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I use a fluoride free toothpaste and drink flitered water with no fluoride, true story. On the filtered water as well.

Fuzz Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Next you guys are going to be telling me that water fluoridation is a huge Commie conspiracy...

Fuzz Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 You do realise that the FLUORIDE project has nothing to do with fluoride in water - it's just an acronym - the abstract lists high-fructose corn syrup as its obesity culprit? That's what they want you to think. This is all a giant Commie conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.... ... dammit, there's no smiley with a tin foil hat...
ramon_cojones Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 You do realise that the FLUORIDE project has nothing to do with fluoride in water - it's just an acronym - the abstract lists high-fructose corn syrup as its obesity culprit? I avoid HFCS too lol.
Blakes Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I found that documentary I watched. http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/great-culling-our-water/ I use a fluoride free toothpaste and drink flitered water with no fluoride, true story. Luckily are water here is fluoride free... or so they say. Think i'm going to look into switching toothpastes!! ha
Habana Mike Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 You do realise that the FLUORIDE project has nothing to do with fluoride in water - it's just an acronym - the abstract lists high-fructose corn syrup as its obesity culprit? Yes, I do realize that and actually pointed out what the acronym stood for in the OP. "For Lowering Universal Obesity Rates are Implement ideas that Don't demand Effort" - even the grammatical atrocities aren't as bad as the implication that a fluoride-like approach is being considered to control obesity. This implies to me a program delivering non-consensual and uncontrolled ingestion of questionable substances across the entire population whether they're prone to obesity or not. It is the Irish study that has to do with fluoride in water as a possible contributor to obesity and diabetes.
sengjc Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 You do realise that the FLUORIDE project has nothing to do with fluoride in water - it's just an acronym - the abstract lists high-fructose corn syrup as its obesity culprit? That certainly clears things up. They could have chosen a better acronym as it does create some level of confusion. I was half expecting to see a generation of slim people with bad teeth 20 years from now.
