Cohiba Stevie Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Besides the obligatory cigars and alcohol, what creature comforts do you have that you get regular satisfaction from? Foods of a certain type, a specific way of doing something, a sideline to cigars that you wish share etc. anything at all... Mine would have to be wet shaving, ive been wet shaving with a double edge and straight razor for several years now going back to a multi blade razor and foam in a can would never be an option. I love everything about wet shaving, from face prep to lathering, from shaving angles to blade maintenance. I also love trying bespoke shaving soaps and cream with a particular affinity for italian variants. All my shaving tools including brush come from germany as their quality and craftsmanship are second to none (except maybe japan but rediculously expensive). So whats yours? Anything that makes you that extra bit happy in your day to day life. Many Thanks.
orangedog Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 On the topic of wet shaving... I am saddened that Truefit and Hill in the Forum Shops (an escalator away from Casa Fuente) closed down a couple years back... For me... it is the constant access to financial information (i.e. trading data) and mountain biking. I am as slow as a turtle but dang it I want my ridiculously priced high performance bike. I'm sure there are plenty of other vices/hobbies/comforts too, but the big four are definitely cigars, scotch, trading, and mountain biking.
AndrewNR Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 An old friend of mine got into wet shaving actually.. Although he uses a cut throat blade I think.. For me I don't think I could indefinitely live without motorcycles..
Colt45 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Since alcohol is off the table (wine would really be the last "luxury" I'd want to give up), I'd probably go with books.
CaptainQuintero Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 cheese, it goes in/on/with/under essentially everything I eat I don't know what I would do if I wasn't in such a fantastic cheese country and have others so close.

Very good... On the subject of food i have been slowly getting a healthy interest in cured/aged meats. Most notably proscuitto and jambon iberico.
Chris7 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Probably my ipod. I am rarely without it, when I am at work is pretty much the only time my ipod is off.
theholmesmob Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 golf..... without it I would never know the satisfaction and frustration of endevouring to achieve mastery...
cigcars Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Scott toilet tissue and plenty of clean and drinkable water. May as well be a gonner otherwise!
Pilgrims Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 horse racing, a great hobby "I lose myself in" as a way to relax
GammerSmokes Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 My bass guitars! I am always noodling away to try and keep up with my bandmates. They rely on me as the metronome despite thats the drummers job lol. Also, my love for playing volleyball will always be there. Tapatalk'd from my Note II part Tres
Pilgrims Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 weirdly Twitter is another of mine, never thought I'd get into something like that but am now hooked and find it great for following several hobbies and interests at once, feel far better informed as a result

Justmi Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 No-one mentioned coffee! I'm a massive coffee addict. 2 cup pour over: 18g freshly ground over 300ml water - 3 minute brew time.
Cohiba007 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Harley Davidson, fresh roasted coffee, and college football
Puros Y Vino Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 2 creatures named Art and Frank. You flatter us.
Strada Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Music, loved ones, physical activity, DIY projects, books and the net
Orion21 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 A dishwasher (too many horrible memories as a child having to do dishes by hand) and my Bose noise cancelling headphones. I don't know what I did before them, but they were life changing. If I had to make serious selections it would be purified running water and A/C. Living in AZ with our 110 F summers I have no idea how people lived here before A/C was invented and perfected...I guess the answer is they basically didn't LOL
