FredClever Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 To me, every single Trinidad so far has been a disappointment. Aged or young, big or small. After all the positive reviews I keep seeing, my conclusion is simple: Either I've been unlucky - or - the Trinidad and me: we don't mix. Maybe I'll give them one last shot if they're part of a HQ sampler from our host.

Pedro2486 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Upmann Mag48 2009EL RyJ Petit Churchill Expected a lot from the Mag48, so many good reviews, all I smoked were crap. Really? I recently received a PSP box of Mag 48 and was really impressed, one of the best ELs I've tried recently. The biggest disappointment for me has been the Partagas Lusi GR. Yes it was perfectly balanced and complex and smoked beautifully (basically it was exactly as Ken and Rob said in the review) but unfortunately the actual flavour profile wasn't for me/didn't suit my tastes. Real bummer as it was a cigar I really wanted to enjoy 1
subport Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 most of the RyJ, all the Monte open, and seriously Hoyo epi2 (tried aprox 10 from like 4-5 yrs variations, codes but nothing. total 0)

Mag 48 LE. The cab I have have been crap and aged into bigger crap. At least mine did. Btw, this was the first and last box of LE Cigars I bought.

joeypots Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Trinidad Robust T Every one a wind tunnel. Had a box of 24 and one of 12. They weren't cheap, either. Good riddance.
daeji5 Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I know it's a bit of a cigarillo more than a real stick, but the erdm demi tasse have been just bland to me.
NMJoe Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Genios - They looked beautiful and SOME of the reviews I had read made me buy into the hype. From my palate's perspective, total "Gifted" the remaining seven from my 10 box to my Brother-in-law.
subport Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I know it's a bit of a cigarillo more than a real stick, but the erdm demi tasse have been just bland to me. Pm me if you have stockpiled and wanna get rid of them. Love them to death
Dozerhead Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 For me, just about anything Cohiba. Maybe it's the price point. Maybe it's my unrefined pallate that can't pick up the subtle nuances and flavors these cigars allegedly possess, but either way I am usually left woefully unimpressed. I have set some down from various vitolas to see if some extended down time will change my mind, but for the most part, to my experienced but unsofisticated pallate, they are flavorless windtunnels.
earthson Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Cohiba Maduro 5 (simply not worth the premium) Juan Lopez - just not the profile I prefer

Just revisited the brand last night with a siglo l and was underwhelmed at best. Just don't see what the hype is about. Razor sharp burn and delicious flavors, but no more so that the plpc I torched right after that
Bulldog4 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 cohiba maduro genios: waste of money if I want maduro go for NC cohiba bhk54:have had 5 so far maybe expectations were to High but been thoroughly disappointed so far vegas robiana anniversario 20th: just flat out sucked
Laxman Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Hoyo grand epicure was bland. Love the brand and was pretty disappointed. Glad I only bought two boxes. Maybe a few years rest helps. Have had 4 RA extras out of different boxes and didn't like any of them. Strange as I am an RA *****.
camachoman Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 For me, it's the Cohiba line, just doesn't do it for me.
bradbrennan Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I'm a little surprised by the PSD4 and Boli RC and Cohiba showing up here, they're becoming my favorites, maybe the 2013's are better? I have some Punch Punch and Monte 2 that are nice but lack flavor for me, I'd be happy to trade some

Just think about food. Some like mushrooms while the others don't. Some like lamb the others don't. Some like spinach the others hate it. We aren't all "supertasters" and might taste the basic background differently without small nuances what others can detect. 2

Steens Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 A box of 2011 RASS bland, Yet enjoying 2011 RAE now and also the RA Super Ramon
Edward7 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Reviving a thread from the dead but I just cannot get onboard with most bolivars that I have, particularly the belicoso finos. I am finding the epi especial to be quite boring and while I liked my first 8-9-8, the second was like a tight less flavorful [insert any partagás vitola here] cigar. QdO no. 50 are pretty flat and one dimensional and I think the upmann magnum 54 is also an overly thick ring gauge, bland filler cigar. These days I am sticking to 42-52 ring gauge. In fact I find myself hanging around the sub 50 ring gauge a lot more often if it isn’t for the regular Monte No. 2.

I know it's off topic, but I think a supertaster would pass out if they smoked a cigar. It sounds good, but I read that supertasters have really hard time with spices in food because it's overwhelming. I can't help but think that burning tobacco would all but kill them. OTT I know.
multi-useless Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Good bump I've not smoked a lot of them, but I've yet to have an HdM do anything for me. I want to say I've had the EE and the E2, but they were both so unmemorable that I'm not 100% certain. Just weak and boring, like there was nothing to them. Will try again someday I'm sure, maybe in a petit robusto or a smaller RG... Was initially let down by one of my first CC boxes a few years ago, a box of Party MF's - but, recently found that a few years rest has done wonders for them
