Edwhatever Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Punch Platino, India release The one Rob shared with me, I will never for get that. Maybe its not the best one out there, but in my memory, it is and always will be. http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand.aspx?brand=Punch#215_Edici|on_Regional_India
kiwiman911 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 i just love the VR Petit Robaina and the LGC from cuba now mthat is just great
mk05 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I have a top 3. 1) I love UK regionals. I think they have the most classic & classy profile of all regional programs, whether intended or not, and are also true to the marca...just a step up from all other REs - at least for me, but damn they are expensive. 2) Anything out of Phoenicia is just ridiculous, maybe they're doing it for Mr. Z...but these are both expensive and hard to get. 3) German. I've loved all that I've come across in trades or gifts - they seem to have the classic profiles like the UK. I just don't have the energy to jump through some hoops to get some of them though...I'm getting too old for this crap.
dangolf18 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Tough call for me. So many of them are good. Perhaps the Bolivar Especiales No.2 from Germany or the RA Gordito from Canada. The RA Belicosos RE from Germany was also stellar.
srsMichael Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Juan Lopez no 5 RE Andorra Bolivar Simones RE Canada Vegas Robaina petite robusto RE Canada Havent smoked many RE's but these are my favorite so far. Have about 5 others waiting in the humidor!
godpheonix Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 i have not tried all of my regional releases yet but from the ones i have tried : first place - Juan Lopez seleccion No.4 second place - PL Belicoso Extras
Dbone Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Would it be safe to day the RE program has been more successful in creating brand alternatives than say.... the EL program? From my limited experience, an RE more closely matches the brands stereotypical profile. Gives me something different, while keeping it in the family.
perfectform Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Boy, tough call. Overall, I would say that the PL stable of RE's are the best, followed closely by the RA's. I've enjoyed a lot of different regionals, Phoencia's ED's Esp. 2's but I'm going to have to say that the Boli 5at Avenida sticks out the most to me. That smoke was just a citrus bomb of biblical proportions.
jrb5783 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I love bolivar REs that bring said my favorites are Boli China from the Jar Boli Esp 2 Germany Boli B2 Canada Non bolivar PL Uk Punch Portugal I have a lot of REs that I've yet to try VR maestros RA grandes La escepcion To name a few
MC4 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Nobody has mentioned the Britanicas!! I haven't tried any RE but were thinking of getting the Britanicas. Are they not worth it at all not to be mentioned here by anyone?
Onsto Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Nobody has mentioned the Britanicas!! I haven't tried any RE but were thinking of getting the Britanicas. Are they not worth it at all not to be mentioned here by anyone? They are still very young, and noticeably so. I have only had two but was underwhelmed by them, decided against a box purchase. The LFDC Short Robusto is the pick of the UK REs, if you can find them.
Lotusguy Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Nobody has mentioned the Britanicas!! I haven't tried any RE but were thinking of getting the Britanicas. Are they not worth it at all not to be mentioned here by anyone? Not worth it. I am glad I only bought one box and it was cheap.

Are they not worth it at all not to be mentioned here by anyone? Woeful, tragic attempt at a cigar. At least cheap rubbish compared to the Punch gold medal...crikey..... H&F are having a bit of a mid life crisis at the moment, two shockers and then followed it up with a generic RA stubby. Threw their 'historic and classic' cigars theme for the the UK REs out the window. The boxes look nice though...

CaptainQuintero Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Talk about differences in preference,. You can still buy the Punch Serie D'Oro No 1 for cheaper than the tin foil thing!
mazolaman Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Those Britanicas are pretty poor... My fave would be the PL Regalias de Londres.
Savoy Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Edmunto Dantes el conde 109 and Edmundo dantes el conde 54 from Mexico have a box of each and love them! Also the RA phoenicios are impresive!this
Rye Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 My favorite yet hands down is the Adriãtico Vegas Robaina (LGC) very similar to the LGC Re Cuba. The RA Gorditos de Allones Canada are really smoking well right now, as are the '09 petit Robaina's from Canada. Lest I forget the always delicious Boli Simones. The last PL Belicoso I had was an excellent smoke as well. I am a huge sucker for the Re program!

I might be getting my wires crossed here but didn't that adriatico release start off as lgc, the cigars were made but there was a problem with the boxes so they stuck Vegas robaina bands on them instead?

Rye Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Yes, they were rolled as LGC, and due to copyright issues, re-banded as VR. I can't bring myself to pick off the metal Robaina label on the box and see the LGC logo.
CaptainQuintero Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Lol that's crazy! At least tasty though!
