ahh, the harmless white mold. Just wipe it off, recheck in a few weeks to make sure it doesn't reappear. No harm at all!

get out your magnifying glass, if it has small stems with fluff on top its mold.

looks like mold to me.

Almost certainly mold. Plume really doesn't "stick up" off the cigar surface and can look "crystally." If the phenomenon follows a seam or leaf edge, which it seems to do here, that's another indicator suggestive of mold.

But yeah, like Tim says. Harmless white fluff can simply be wiped off. Store, smoke, but certainly keep calm and carry on.

It is interesting that mold almost always starts near the head of a cigar.

It could be to do with the gum or that the head of a cigar is the part touched the most when the cigar is being made..

Interesting it is on Monty's, the only time I've had the same thing is with Monty 2's, never any of my other cigars. Don't know if it is because the wrappers are more oily but I just brush it of and carry on.

Zoom and look closely at the crystals.

Sorry my friend but if THAT is plume then ALL my cigars are covered with plume.

Plume it is not I'm afraid.

As for the churchills, I'm not sure.

Can't totally see due to the photo size but the Churchills looks like excess gum to me, I've found it a lot on SLR Churchills too. Maybe something the rollers do when making that vitola means they have more gum on their fingers than usual when they come to stretching out/smoothing out the wrapper?

Who pulled the pictures of the cigars in question? That was rather uncool.

I did it by accident, I was going for the edit tab and I accidently clicked the delete tab. It was via my iPhone. I just didn't take the time to re-post.

Doh! Been there. Editing on the phone is tough. At least the mobile site still allows use of the moderator tools.

If the mold makes to the foot, you'll want to toss. On the wrapper, wipe it off and light it up. Just keep it away from your healthy cigars.

I donno...these guys are sure decided on this matter. I got it, why don't you...send it to me, I'll smoke it, and let you know if the others are worth smoking too? :disguise:

I've heard, that if you catch it early enough, slightly clipping the foot may solve the issue / save the cigar.
