So, if available, i would like to pick up a box or two of their regional releases. I wanted your recommendation in this regard, if releases from past years are available, which RE would you recommend? I seem to prefer medium to full body & bold flavours. cigcars Posted March 29, 2012 Share Posted March 29, 2012 I had the Swiss RE Por Larranaga Valioso, Juan Lopez Short Torpedo, and a few other massive bulk size RE's that were for the UK market, and unfortunately found them sadly lacking in flavor and content. Maybe if Switzerland imports a few Regionals into its territory you can seek out some for the Asia and Canadian markets. Bahnofstrasse Posted March 29, 2012 Share Posted March 29, 2012 I have smoked them all over the past few years as I am in Zurich quite a bit with my business. The best Suiza RE over the past few years IMO has been the Juan Lopez Maximos. It also smokes to your desired profile of med to med/full. All the others are just OK and nothing really special as far as I am concerned. There are better regular production cigars that I go to at a lower price... The JL Maximos are still available as I always pick up a single or two out of the LCDH Zurich. I also see them sporadically in the various Davidoff shops strewn through out the City Center. I can't remember off hand but doesn't the Swiss market get a very large amount of cigars made for their REs considering the size of their domestic market? I wonder why they are so readily available here? I would not touch a box at 200-300% tax mark-up but maybe 1 or 2 as a special treat... Maybe.
