Hi, folks.

I smoked two H. Upmann Coronas Majors this weekend. Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of small cigars, but this Upmann was just right with my morning coffee on Saturday. I smoked the second one during my Sunday morning coffee. I've decided I like these particular Upmanns, but being newer to CCs in general and not being familiar with the smaller smokes in particular, I'm not sure how the Upmann Coronas Major compares to other similarly sized cigars. I'd prefer to go no less than 42/43 ring... but what might be some suggestions for other smaller cigars that make good morning coffee smokes?

Thanks in advance!

My favorite all time cigars to smoke with a morning coffee are:

Monte 5

Partagas Short

Trinidad Reyes

Siglo 1

Boli PC

SCDLH El Principes or PLPC for me for morning smokes. Party shorts/Trini Reyes are great with coffee but for me its more of an after dinner quick smoke with my after dinner coffee/espresso

For a morning coffee I'd go with the Party Short, Trini Reyes or Cohiba Siglo I

My Saturday morning cigar has been Dip 4's as of late. I'm disappointed that they are discontinued but they are currently smoking great. I figure I might as well enjoy what's left of them while they're in season.

ERDM Choix Supreme is a fantastic lazy sunday morning smoke thats for sure.

Looks like the Partagas Shorts beat out everyone else. I'll take a look at those for sure, though I wasn't hugely impressed with the Partagas Mille Fleurs I smoked Friday evening. How do the Shorts compare to the Milles?

I'll also take a look at the Bolivar PCs and the PLPCs since both are in that 42/43 x 5" size that I think it perfect for coffee. I've always liked the Bolivar RCs and the BFs are starting to grown on me more. I've never had a Cuban Por Larranaga, but would like to try them.

I've heard nothing but good things about the ERDM Choix Supreme, so I'll check those out, too. Bigger than what I was looking at... but I do like keeping my options open. :)

Thanks again, folks!

you cant compare a short to a mille fleurs...mille fleurs are Cheap and cheerfulls with short filler. Shorts are all long filler. they are 100 times better than a MF.

when they are on nothing can come close to the Siglo I, the problem is they are hit and miss. Others I would recommend in order of preference would be Reyes, RASCC and shorts. On the cheaper end a PL Panatella is hard to beat for the money.

As has been already mentioned, PLPC is my choice... without even thinking about it.... if I had to pick one.

It's a warm and smooth smoke, with good amounts of sweet honey, buttermilk, and with some good age on it... caramel. Nice long finish that'll tide you over till lunch time :cigar:
