SCgarman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Monte#2,Upmann#2,PSP#2,Diplo#2 or Robaina Unico- Which is the best in your opinion if you had the choice?
mbrody Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The single best I have had was an Upmann #2. The most consistant and enjoyable to my tastes are the Unicos. Have had good experiences with them all, just a matter of preference and what is "on."
nick17 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 simply Monty 2 for me so smooth and in my opinion perfect
dan5974 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 PSP#2 because I prefer full-bodied cigars,but I like all of them.
Figaro Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 This thread would be nice with a poll. Based on full-bodied and complexity, for me, it's PSP2 > Monte No.2 > Upmann No.2 > VR Unicos > Diplo No.2
mk05 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 If pre-00, hands down the Monte 2 Currently nothing touches VR2s IMO. That's just personal preference though!
maverickdrinker Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I used to love torpedo shaped cigars. BBFs, monte 2s, Upmanns, you name it. I found over time that the construction was always variable. When they are on, they are on. When they weren't, they could substitute for a tent pole. Overall, my heart still belongs to a monte no. 2.
Puros Y Vino Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I usually dont smoke torpedoes. I have no luck with Monte 2's...P2s are OK but so far I'm loving the VR Unicos.. Absolutely delicious.
mazolaman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I love La Puntas, Sancho Belicosos, and Boli Belicosos...
Rushman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 VR Unicos followed by PSP2's followed by everything else IMHO --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631725,-87.070665
Pilgrims Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I would say Psp2 from these as have had a few that were stunning, for day time I've always had a soft spot for the Sancho Panza Belicoso too
Hohenthal Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The most consistant and enjoyable to my tastes are the Unicos. Have had good experiences with them all, just a matter of preference and what is "on." Exactly that. Although in general I don't go for Torpedos a lot, so I'm not the expert. RA Belicosos ER Alemana were outstanding. And Sancho Belicoso to me was probably the most unique, a wonderful surprise.
riazp Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 i'm a sucker for cuban pyramides shaped cigars...i've recently discovered the VR Unicos and boy oh boy were they ever good. I pretty much like them all, but in order i'd have to say Unicos-PSP2-Dip 2-Upmann 2-Monte 2
tmac77 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Robaina Unico's for me. They just seem to deliver a wonderful complexity of flavours and great consistancy in burn and construction. 2nd place would be the Upmann followed closely by the Monte.
Hemsworth Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I haven't smoked enough to say, but the PSP2 that I had was phenomenal. I have a box of the Upmann #2's on the way though, very excited.
thechenman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Of the five piramides you listed, my order of preference would be: 1. Vegas Robaina Unico (Thanks for turning me on to these Bart.) 2. Diplomaticos No. 2 (Was my favorite pirmaide, after beating out the Monte2, but then was trounced by the Unico.) 3. Montecristo No. 2 (Used to be my favorite Piramide, but was supplanted by the Dip2.) 4. Partagas Serie P. No. 2 5. H. Upmann No. 2
Quint Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I haven't smoked them all but of the ones I would say this. PSP #2 I'm going through a box now that is delicious. Every single one perfectly constructed and consistent flavor profile. IMO you have to age these babies though 3 or 4 years gets you a delicious smoke. Monte #2 I've had some that are wonderfully delicious unfortunately the next one out of the box can be a dog. Almost as if the swept up the floor to roll it. I can't for the life off me understand the inconsistencies from cigar to cigar from the same box. Makes it really hard to pull the trigger on a box of these. Haven't tried the Vegas Robaina's yet but they're next on the list along with the Upmann's. Everything from Vegas Rabaina IMO is wonderful and the consistency is spot on.
Squarehead Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Never had a Unico,but it's on my list.I like the MC's and Upmanns.
jazzbass Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I have some beautiful Upmanns from '07 that get better every year.. Still Love the Partagas Torpedo, Monte as well but keep going back to the Upmanns !
