asmith Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 A sad day in the world of Cuban Cigars as Habanos SA announces which cigars will be discontinued, Rob is not happy.
Lotusguy Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 WTF!!! What are they smoking over there? Obviously not cigars... LGC Tainos? BCE?
laficion Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Right !!!! AND WITH WHAT WILL THEY REPLACE THESE WITH ????? Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 ????
CaptainQuintero Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Just discovered the Punch Petit Corona too... So Habanos is pretty determined to end up 10 years from now with one marka, the Cohibacristo Open series. Ring Guage ranging from 50-70. Taste ranging from cardboard to drywall. gigabyte056 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I think Habanos has decided to save all the tobacco for RE and LE cigars, they are losing all respect from me. dumping the classic Cubans like BRC and LGC Tainos is a crazy thing to do. Never felt much for the Punch PC but hate to see it go to free up some hands to make RE and LE. Time to stock up once more... At least we know ahead thanks to Rob, next time your'e in Cuba please give them my thanks
Colt45 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 As mentioned at the end of the vid - I pretty much don't care what they do anymore. I'll vote with my wallet, and truly look forward to the day when there is open competition in the production of Cuban cigars. Karma's a *****..... P.S. Best to you José
riazp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Well after watching that, Bolivar CE jumped up to first on my shopping list...Really? kill off a great cigar like the CE from bolivar? Rob is right, They go ahead and off cigars that true aficionados enjoy and keep the big RG monstrosities...Do we really need a RyJ churchill, short churill, wide churchill and upcoming petit churthill...4 cigars in a brand not much of us have passion for? And dont get me started on the 2012 LE's...a 55 RG MONTE?????? If the deletion of the Trini Robusto T is true...they truly are
Guest rob Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 sigh..... I'm not sure where HSA will be in 5 years.... but they deserve whatever they get. Perhaps they're getting ready for impending distribution channels into the USA...and getting their stock to be more in line with what the average joe is likely to want - large ring guage, flavour not important, glitzy band and brands, image is everything!
riazp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 sigh..... That is possible Rob, but If I look at all the NC brands on the market, all the major players in the Non cuban world, they all have a long and skinny in their portfolio, Pepin, Tajuaje, AB, Casa Fernandez, Rocky patel, Illusione, Padron, and on and on...Which is more than we can say about habanos, they are deleting Long and Skinny's. Makes no sense..then again i've given up trying to understand Hananos SA.
Scdalak Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Don't hold back Rob tell us how you really feel!!!! That really sucks , one can only hope they have a plan in place to make reparations...
CBL Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I've had the Bolivar CE on my list for a long time now, but couldn't afford one as I have a big trip planned for the end of the month, now that I know it might be gone soon I'm hesitating on ordering one none the less Looked forward to the day I could own a cab for a while as well, but by the time I'm cab-worthy, there might not be any cab 50's left :'( Trinidad Robusto T would be a ridiculous move, even considering all the great cigars that have been discontinued so far, deleting the Robusto T makes no sense at all. Drop the price 25/30% and they'd have a top selling item... My thoughts go out to those poor bastards who have to entertain a mourning and clearly disgruntled Rob Hopefully they'll get him drunk enough to forget! But I'm worried he'll weep at the sight of a Corona Extra or Fonseca No. 1
Colt45 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Perhaps they're getting ready for impending distribution channels into the USA...and getting their stock to be more in line with what the average joe is likely to want - large ring guage, flavour not important, glitzy band and brands, image is everything! You mean like the Behikes people around the globe are gobbling up? Though I obviously can't know what will happen, I'd be more willing to bet that if HSA doesn't get it's act completely together quality wise, that the "average U.S. smoker" (is there really such a thing?) is more likely to wonder what all the fuss was about and go back to cigars they enjoy and can rely on. If I look at all the NC brands on the market, all the major players in the Non cuban world, they all have a long and skinny in their portfolio And many also have corona gorda or similar sizes.
thechenman Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I have to admit every year when this list comes out I get closer and closer to Piggy's POV.
SCgarman Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 While the Trini Robusto T in my opinion is overpriced, discontinuing the cigar after just releasing it a couple of years ago would be very suprising. Also the Bolivar CE is a very good cigar- cannot understand that move. Could not understand the discontinuation of the Rafael Gonzales CE either, it is a great cigar when not rolled too tight.
FireDigger Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I'm glad I got a cab of Mag 46 now that their days are numbered. Next on the list is the BCE along with the Lusitania cab which I'm sure is on the chopping blocks soon with the trend of cutting the 50 cabs.
ChanceSchmerr Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 For F*cks sakes!!! I finally get ashore for a couple of days, and get bowled over by two bits of shyte news. First, the cellphone i´d been waiting on forever and was going to buy once I got home next year, the HP Pre 3, has been completely cut by HP...............and now this disgrace!!?!?!?! BS BS BS Expletive!!!! You can bet I am going right back to the damn estanco here in Palmathat I just bought cigars at to pick up a box of Punch Petit Coronas and as many singles of the Boli Corona Extra that I can find (I would buy a box but I already lessened my funds picking up 3 other boxes that I´ll elaborate on in my Cigar Journal) I am with Rob totally on this one. Utter Fecking Disgrace.
Ginseng Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Son. Of. A. *****. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a parallel cigar universe where the laws of nature don't apply. Up is down and left is right. Classic is dead and the future is a scary place. I love the Mag46 and the BCE. Wilkey
Nocoins Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 The only things worse than a few of these deletions are some of the cigars that will remain in production -- the rest of Cuaba and the bullshit extensions of RyJ and Montecristo, most prominently.

Wilkey If I understood correctly the Mag46 and 50 are only discontinued in 50's cab. regarding the BCE, will they still be coming in Cab's of 50 or are they totally scrapped? A sad sad day
Colt45 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 regarding the BCE, will they still be coming in Cab's of 50 or are they totally scrapped? The BCE 50s were discontinued a couple of years ago, so it looks like they are completely gone.
gigabyte056 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I would love to know how they come up with these decisions, they should totally replace their ouija board. suggestion for a good explanation to the wife on why I need to order 5 boxes?
riazp Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 If I understood correctly the Mag46 and 50 are only discontinued in 50's cab. regarding the BCE, will they still be coming in Cab's of 50 or are they totally scrapped? A sad sad day According to trevors website SLB 50 discontinued in 2009. So these are now a part of habanos history...the museum of why the hell did you delete this cigar, along with the Diplomaticos 3,4 and 5 and many more.
