Just wondering what others do with theirs. Over last year I have been saving mine in glass vase on my bar. Does that sound weird?

Nooo - not weird at all. Some of us out here specialize in it. In my first days of finally being able to obtain beloved habanas, I saved every cigar band from them. I had half a dozen empty tall clear containers full of them. When I had to move from Atlanta I gave them all to another cigar loving friend of mine. At my tobacconists stores they have quite a few very large containers similar to yours that are full of bands. Keep up the saving work, mi amigo. Maybe one day we will be able to "safely" sell them as collector's items!

One of my local cigar friends has been making cigar label collages... I need to take a picture and post her last one... she did the store front of the Brick and Mortar we all hang out at and I think she outdone herself!

We actually have a collection box there for her. She and her husband take them and sort them by color... the collection is quite extensive!

It's nice to be a little weird, isn't it?

I save them for my wife and she uses them in different art she makes. I have also used them to put a collage on my xikar cigar travel case.

When I first started smoking, I would use a glue stick and put them on a piece of paper and write notes about the cigar along with a rating. Then I could go back and see what I liked and so on along with a recognizable band.

I save them both CC and NC bands, although I place them in separate glass jars. Still trying to figure out what I ultiamtely want to do with them.

I saved them in a jar until full. By them, the novelty wore off & I tossed them.

Right now, I throw them in a drawer which also holds all my empty cigar tubes and some empty boxes. Not sure what I will ultimately do with them.

How... How do you get those off in one piece without damaging the cigar?

I find it very difficult 4 times out of 5.

Or do you even smoke past the band?

Posted

Sometimes you can roll the cigar in your fingers at the band and it loosens the cigar from the band but some are just glued to the cigar :-( some very heavy handed gluing going on in the factory, those you just toss

I generally leave the bands on cause I am lazy.

Once I get close to the band the heat usually allows me to remove it.

Then I throw the bands away with the ashes.

Guess I'm weird one LOL I toss it with the cap after it's cut unless I'm taking a picture of the cigar - then it's nice to have identification for those viewing.

Sometimes I get a surprise. I find them in my pockets after they've gone through the wash LOL

This isn't my jar of cigar bands, its actually Mr Japan's collection.

I always glue the band of the first cigar of a batch I smoke into my notebook where I keep my tasting notes.

The rest, I started keeping in a jar, and recently started making framed posters (attached is my first one, which still needs one more row of bands)

I'm going to keep saving them and maybe do up smaller posters that are specific to a brand. I also dream of doing one with every single Cuban band available - I'll just have to make the sacrifice to find and smoke all those cigars :)

I used to keep them all, but came to the realization that I wasn't going to ever do anything with them, so away they went.

I now just keep a few here and there.

When I started, I taped them in my cigar journal next to my reviews like a dork

Now I have a whole bag full of them..........like a dork :)

Initially I wanted to keep the bands but I could never get them off without tearing them apart or damaging cigars. And most of the time i dont smoke at home so i decided to the ditch idea all together.

This is what I did with mine!

Oh, nice! But if an onlooker like me were looking on...it would seem that the Habanos multi-lingual sheet you have right in the center might be more appropriate at a corner location in that configuration. It's a tad "out of place" right there in the center with the cigar bands, a bit of a distraction. Just my humble opinion.
