Omskakas Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I read from MRNs book that an average(?) cigar smoker in Hongkong has a collection of 10 000-40 000 cigars. That sounds almost unbelievable and awesome at the same time. I want to know, how many cigars FoH members have on average. You don't have to count, just make a good guess. I think I have somewhere between 500 and 1000 cigars.
LeafLover Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 500-1000. Not enough. Whatever my fridge and two desktops can hold is all I can keep.
Wicky Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 10,000 to 40,000 cigars! In my dreams! I just try to keep my 2 desktops healthy. So I guess I'm in the 200-300 range. I smoke 3 a day so my stash doesn't get much of a chance to grow.
Dbone Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 My Aristocrat is able to hold about 40 boxes and a few hundred loose. Would I like more? YES. But honestly, if I smoke 200 cigars a year do I really need thousands on hand? I wouldn't consider myself a collector though. Just an avid cigar smoker with healthy, but reasonable supply Great poll, can't wait to hear from others.
WayneH Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 268 cigars, time to order more, I do keep an invntory adding new and removing those that I smoke. Works better for me than pulling out all the boxes and counting.
armedak Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I was able to keep my collection at reasonable levels until they started to "discontinue" many of my favorite marcas and sizes. The discovery of coolidors and beads for low cost storage at optimum humidity and temperature didn't help either. So with storage not so much a limiting factor and the continuing trend of elimination of many of Cuba's finest I'm toast.
StumpyJoe Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 If I count what I also have in the online humidor I'm somewhere in the 600-700 range. I have a wine fridge I want to convert and hope to one day have an Aristocrat. Just want to have enough supply where I have a rotating selection that is aged 5 years by the time I smoke them...haven't done the math yet to figure how many boxes I'll need based on my consumption rate...and I'm still finding new cigar favorites so I don't know my full spectrum of cigars to collect. And of course I need a good selection of cigar shapes and sizes so that I can grab a cigar that fits my mood and time restraints. This is hurting my head...
mbrody Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Thanks to the Online Humi...I have plenty, but no where near MRN's description of a Hong KOng smoker!
Puros Y Vino Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 On a related note. Those of you that have >1000 cigars. How do you keep track of them? I use a program called CigarDB. Anyone know of any other inventory programs for cigars?
anacostiakat Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I could not take the poll as I have no idea how many I have. I keep thinking I should take an inventory and then never seem to get around to it. I guess the next time I fill the reserviors I should at least count boxes, etc. That would give me a ball park as not all boxes are untouched. Any way. I think the real answer (at least for me) is not enough!
sfordham Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Now are we talking about in our humidors or online lockers
samb Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I voted 50-200. Im a bit closer to 150 though. Still building the stocks!
CBL Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have around 250 cigars not including singles. Should be over 300 before the end of the year
BlackFriar Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Not Enough! The real problem is having only a box of any given format from a marca. I've only been at this for 3 years and am still trying to work my way through the various marcas. Everytime I look into the coolidor I cringe when I see the only and half smoken box of a cigar that I have come to love. I need to win the lottery very soon.
jsd Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I think I'm in the neighborhood of 1200. 5 desktops of singles and a full cooler, although I do smoke out of those boxes. I'm closing in on 200 smoked for the year, probably only 1/4 of those were purchased and smoked at a B&M. I hope to increase box purchases next year. I only personally know one person with more than me and he's over 6000.
Jesuscookies Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have a 6 foot tall cabinet, a wine fridge, and two desk tops, loaded with boxes and singles. I have not counted, but if I had to guess, too many.
mazolaman Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have to admit,I'm amazed at how many you all have! I have a little portable car fridge, which will hold about 100,and it's never full. I tend to buy a box, smoke them, and save 4 to age for a longer period. I therefore have about 13 different cigar marcas sitting at the bottom. Suits me and my wallet....
maalouly Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have no idea how much I have but I reckon the average FOH member would have between 500 to 3000 cigars at any given time.
dicko Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 around a hundred - in a small wooden desktop and a tupperware container which holds 1 box at a time and singles. when i leave uni and get a job (one day lol) i can see that going up and up. atleast until i get a wife and mortgage according to everyone
Omskakas Posted October 10, 2010 Author Posted October 10, 2010 Now are we talking about in our humidors or online lockers Both.
IceChant Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I have around 300 in reality I have eight cigars right now, the rest is splited around.
bassman Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 The correct answer is far too many but still not enough. I'd estimate 100 boxes. Don't keep track of them at all. I like finding surprises, like the box of 02 SLR PCs I "discovered" last week.
Stalebread Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 In the neighborhood of 650, about half of which are mixed boxes or singles.
