Bill Hayes Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 2 very good mates enjoy a cigar. My girlfriend's brother in law and his mate like a cigar too. I have lots of mates that would gladly enjoy a cigar on a special occasion or if I hand them one. I haven't smoked a lot of late since the no smoking laws came in. We used to smoke a lot in bars. Now occasionally in beer gardens, weddings, parties, bucks nights etc.
anacostiakat Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 My wife and I smoke cigars together at home. Although she mostly mooches off me. I smoke with friends at my local and that is about it. Only occasionally elsewhere.
Kangaroo495 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 None unfortunately. My girlfriend smokes though. So we smoke together at home on the balcony or at our favourite bar.
Warren Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 This weekend I'm off to the Bunya Mountains for a few days. We will be staying with friends that I have known for 30 years. Terry used to smoke the occasional cigar but refuses now so I'm wondering if I should even bother taking some with me, it never feels right to smoke cigars when the other people around you don't. Oh well there's always Rob, Smithy, Arty and the rest of the Friday deck crew.
Rogers72 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 i've got three buddies who enjoy them regularly. Not bad considering that number was zero when I first started.
dicko Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I don't think his wife was to happy about it. haha i always get in the **** with mates missus's. My best mate smokes cigars and most of my other close friends will have one if they are around but won't buy a humi or anything
thechenman Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Let's see now...locally in the general vicinity of my neighborhood, I have two close friends who are regular cigar smokers. We get together pretty much once a week. Also have another friend who I get together with for a cigar about once a month or so. Most nights I will smoke in solitude on my front porch or backyard patio...to be honest, I really don't mind smoking alone. It is fun with friends, but more relaxing when smoking a cigar in solitude. My wife does not smoke cigars, but she does smoke cigarettes, and will on occassion come out a join me for 10 minutes or so. Still...if no one is around and I feel like being in the company of others who are enjoying a cigar, I just hop in my car and drive down to my local B&M. It's only about a 15 minute drive tops, and there always the usual regulars hanging out there.
tdlfoto Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have one friend who lives nearby who enjoys smoking (my) cigars However, I actually like smoking in solitude, preferring to go out on the porch late at night after I've finished a long retouching session and enjoy a nice night cap glass of wine and cigar.
dcse Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Very few, and only if I invite them over to my place and let them choose from my humidor. Every now and then I meet up with some colleagues in a bar and share some cigars between us.
eman67 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Only a few enjoy an occasional cigar. My wife has one every night with me though. That is rare I think...My wife just complains about it! Not sure I would want her in my stash though.
SethLG Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have a cigar with my brother when I am up in DC or when he comes down to my house. Whenever I am with my 2 mates from college we always spend some quality time with some cigars, and it always a great time. Unfortunately I have no close mates within my town who smoke cigars, but my father in law does which is still a good time. Luckily my mates will be at my wedding along with many others who enjoy fine smokes , and I already have 2 nice boxes of H. Upmann Mag 46's and BRC's that I have been sitting on for 2 years that will be opened up on that day of days.
SethLG Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Any man's wife who shares a cigar with him every night is alright by me.
joeypots Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 We play card in my studio on most Tuesday nights. Three regulars smoke a cigar. These guys think a Avo 2 or 3 is the best cigar in the world, I don't even offer a good Cuban, they all think they are too strong.
Colt45 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 None. Of course, it might help if I had friends.......
OZCUBAN Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 None. Of course, it might help if I had friends....... That the line i was going to use
OZCUBAN Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I only have one friend who smokes cigars ,we have smoked together for at least ten years I also have another friend who loves free cubans But after Melbourne i have met a group of really nice guys who share similar passions And even though i often smoke alone, now i know that i am not alone ,and i have F.O.H to thank for that, just one of the many facets of this wonderful thing we call F.O.H just the distance is a killer and the fact there are not to many nice places to smoke in the most isolated city in the world ,paired with Nazi style health police Cheers OZ
Habanos2000 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Just two, and both of them don't live close enough to me to see them more than maybe a handful of times a year.
jsd Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 5 of my friends here enjoy cigars. I usually enjoy a cigar with at least 3 of them each week. We play poker or cribbage or just chat while we smoke. We'll go to a local shop once or twice a month as well. Our wives are all friends too so our families get together occasionally and we'll BBQ and have cigars. I also meet up with 7 college buddies once a year for a four day get-a-way. Most of us smoke then but only a few of us enjoy cigars regularly.
jdeese88 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I really don't have no friends who smoke cigars either besides one pal of mine. His favorites are Rocky Patels so go figure.... My girlfriend would sometimes share a smoke with me or she'll have one to herself. Like someone else said earlier, its kind of weird smoking a cigar, say at a barbeque, and your the only one smoking. They think you're weird for smoking a cigar and I think they're weird smoking cigarettes.
scinmyheart Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have a few out-of-town friends that will smoke a cigar with me when we get together every now and then, but none in the same city as me...no skin off of my nose, though, as I'm just as happy smoking by myself the people that I hang around don't mind the smoke...and if they did, I just wouldn't hang around them anymore
SmokinLightning Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 My two best friends are avid smokers... each of us has a pretty nice selection so always something new or unusual to smoke. Now that summer is here to cook us alive, the majority of the time is spent floating in the pool with a tall cold drink and a smoke. My wife's uncle likes to fire up when they are visiting... we've bonded over some great cigars the last couple years. I also have a couple co-workers who enjoy a good cigar, we meet up after work on occasion.
laficion Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 None. Of course, it might help if I had friends....... But you do Ross, you even showed us
jawofboston Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Sadly only a few of my friends enjoy cigars more than a few times a year. However, there is a good scene at my local B&M (NC-only, however). My father is my go-to cigar companion.
khomeinist Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 This is my favorite thread in some time. oh the humanity If I were to draw up a spectrum (ha) from Habanakane to Colt, I would be more on the HK side of things. Almost all my close (male) friends smoke. If you don't smoke, I really can't take you seriously....or at least I don't want to spend my precious downtime with you. That being said, I do have a few old friends out in California that don't smoke tobacco. However, it isn't hard to find a beach or mountain out there to smoke in solitude. Like some, a lot of my social life revolves around the local cigar shop. Quite the cast of characters. You leave your class status and regimented ideologies at the door. Off come the gloves for the ultimate piss-take. We meet up on Tuesdays (we call it Port Tuesday) and the odd weekend evening for smokes and hilarity. The Tuesday thing typically annoys spouses and girlfriends, which is partially the point. If you live in my state and want to see a proper smoking group...send me a pm. Speaking of friends.....a buddy of mine who frequents this very forum had the NERVE to state that our social group resembles the FOH crowd in the various videos. This is all true....but then he proceeded to attach names (Rob, Ken, Smithy, Warren, mini-Smithy, etc) to respective members of our group. Oh god. Minutes of my life that will never return. Cheers
BobLobLaw Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Not many. I have one good friend who is as into cigars as I am. However, he travels quite a bit for work and while we may talk cigars often probably only smoke together once per month. We hang out much more then that, but as of now we both have apt/condos so no indoor smoking. My other close friends will occasionally partake, but usually only when I offer or we are golfing. No humidors or anything. I am only a one per week smoker anyway so I am ok with it. While a group of buddies, beers, and hanging out is a fantastic atmosphere that will make any cigar wonderful I also enjoy a solitary cigar. Last nights poker/cigar alone on the balcony was blissful.
