Jnaube Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hey all! I know the double banders have their fare share of haters because of the price and/or discontinuations, but I personnaly love them. Since I started smoking cubans, I smoked a bunch of EL's and RE's. My favorite, is, for now a tie between the Cohiba 66 and the PL Asia Pacifico Belicoso 2008. What is your favorite?
srsMichael Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 favorite RE - Bolivar Simones RE Canada favorite EL - Montecristo Sublime LE 2008
dangolf18 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Favorite RE--toughy but I have to say the RA Belicosos RE Alemania (RA REs are generally great) Favorite LE- Cohiba 1966 (HU 48 and 06 Cohiba Piramides are a close second).
nikesupremedunk Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I only had a couple of each LE/RE but from the ones I've had: EL - Monte 520 by far, smoked it ROTT last week. Even surpassed the 1966's for me. Only other EL's I've had were RyJ Hermoso 2 04 and RA Extra 11. RE - Boli Simones. Smoked RACF, Punch Descobridores, 06 PL Lonsdales, and Boli short bolis.

poorman Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 RE. RA Canada. LE. 1966 way better than the 520 for me.
jrb5783 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 RE: almost any Boli, PL, and RA has been great, there have only been a few REs is haven't liked LE: HdM Short pyramids, monte 520 As you can see I'm not very good at picking one favorite
Rye Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112089 Yup! I'll say it again, my favs are; VR re Adriãtico LGC re Cuba RA re Canada (gorditos) Boli re France (finally smoked those beasts) PL re Asia Pacific (belicosos) VR re Canada (XV Anni) I am SUCH a sucker for the regional program! As for LE's, I'm putting my bucks into Partagas C3. I love'm
Sir Diggamus Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 My favorite RE is PL Robusto- I have only had a few an they were spectacular and my favorite LE was Monte Sublime 2008- I was gifted one of these by my good buddy Professor Twain a while back and I think I burned myself finishing it off.
Surucipe Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 favorite RE - RA Especiales (Suiza '11) favorite EL - 1966 but when also considering price the Short Hoyo Piramides also deserve a lot of praise.
braveheart655 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Have yet to smoke a RE. The best LE stick I had so far was Magnum 48 (over Cohiba 1966). That stick was a single from FOH. Pure chocolate... Then I ordered two boxes and none of the sticks I've tried came any closer
Dimmers Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 1966 and RA Grandes for mine. The best LE stick I had so far was Magnum 48 (over Cohiba 1966). That stick was a single from FOH. Pure chocolate... Then I ordered two boxes and none of the sticks I've tried came any closer Had one for the first time in a long time on the weekend, am still raving about it.
Dara Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 RE has to be the Phoenicia 30th Anniversary Lebanese Phoenicio (Sublime) release. Only smoked 1 of these but what a cigar! LE has to be my beloved R&J Dukes from 2009. They were very good when released, became amazing last year and seem to be still improving with age. Sadly trying to find them is nigh on impossible
almudawi Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 RE: Phoenicia 30th Anniversary Lebanese Phoenicio (Sublime) release. I smoke one every fall when the weather is forgiving here in Bahrain . LE: another sublime. Montecristo Sublimes (08)
dicko Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Have yet to smoke a RE.The best LE stick I had so far was Magnum 48 (over Cohiba 1966). That stick was a single from FOH. Pure chocolate... Then I ordered two boxes and none of the sticks I've tried came any closer I hate when that happens! I love the PL belicosos and have enjoyed others I've tried. LE's never really lit my fire
canadianbeaver Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I love these cigars because they remind me of my travels: This was in Paris. Note the fancy boxes... gifts from Didi, LCDH in Amsterdam. Our favorites
Mr.T Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Favorite EL is the 2004 Partagas Serie D.1 and favoriete RE is the PL Magnifico.
Puros Y Vino Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Where to start? By far I've enjoyed a lot more RE's than LE's. La Escepcion RE Italia 2011. Ramon Allones Gladiator RE B.P.E 2011 Ramon Allones Celestiales Finos RE Asia Pacific 2009 Ramon Allones Super Allones RE Canada 2011 Cohiba 1966 LE 2011. Cohiba Piramides LE 2006 The list above is dominated by Ramon Allones. Sadly, I find the RA RE's are so much better than regular RA releases. It's kind of a shame really. But, I will continue to enjoy them while I can. As for the La Escepcion. I can hardly keep my hands off them.
MC4 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Never tried any RE. LE: tie between 1966 and Monte Sublimes
cigarmonologues Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Favourite RE thus far is a toss up between the LGC Gloriosos (UK 2008) and the VR Maestros (ESP 2007). In the right situation I also love the butteriness of the LFdC Short Robusto (UK2010) That said, I've still got a PL Magnificos (UK 2007) in my humidor which I've yet to smoke, and they're supposed to be incredible. As for my top LE? I would probably have to go with the Monte Sublimes (2008) - it was the first Montecristo that I really liked, I thought it was excellent. (I'm with dicko on this one though, LEs have rarely done much for me).
Tarks Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 In no particular order: LE's Monte Sublime Monte C Cohiba 1966 Cohiba Sublime RyJ Dukes Allones Extra RE's RA Estupendos Bolivar Simones RA Gran Robusto Bolivar Especiales No. 2 Bolivar 109 La Escepcion Selectos Finos
