An RE Friday with @Nate Chu C&C for a Saturday morning with this Sir Winston from 03. Today is going to be great if this cigar is anything to judge it by. What a super smooth star

First cigar of the year.

First from the box. Not bad. A little bit young but you have to start somewhere. Straw, with a little honey. Light. Intensity picked up at the end. UBL 22

Your rating system says it best this time.

😊😊😊 1/2

I find the Coronas Claro are good at about 2 to 5 years. When fresh (less than 2 years) they're tasteless. After 2 or 4 years I find the Brioche, honey and mild caramel notes really come through.

Dropped and damaged the wrapper. It’s a tasty smoke, definitely blended for the European market. Glad I took a flyer.

That's interesting, what makes you say that?

The guy at the store recommended this cigar. I figured it had so many bands, it had to be good.

Today for my birthday, I pulled out this Cohiba that has been sitting in my singles drawer for the last 15 or 20 years.

Happy Birthday Elliott 🎉 I know I liked you for some reason "Were birthday buddies" mine is tomorrow the 8th!

Altadis blended and released Vega Fina in Europe before making them available in the US. Some were later brought here and have since become unavailable. The 1998, classic and some limited editions are still available here.

The tasting notes are mild to medium, cedar, creamy, smooth and low on pepper spice. More of a smooth and refined profile. Generally, nowadays, cigars here are significantly more punchy.

Rafael Nodal made the 1998 available in the US market as he thought it would appeal here is my understanding. I like them and appreciate the access.

Oh, I know those VF 1998. It's always amazed me to see these everywhere at one point despite the fact that they sold pretty poorly here, plus they're distributed in France (with a few other Nodal's cigars) by HSA's distributor (the Coprova) which is kinda weird.

I'm not a big fan myself and none of my smoking buddies are, I guess that's why we don't see them much here anymore. I like Nodal's Capitol cigars a lot more though.
