These were phenomenal at release and about the same now if my recollection can be trusted. It’s hard to improve on perfection. Sublime first puff to last. Such a rare treat. 30 1

I recall there being a pretty sharp divide between rosado-like wrappers and the dark toothy wrappers. Dark ones were virtually unsmokable. Reddish ones were well regarded and more desirable. Definitely the case with the piramides. Maybe the Monte Robustos too? I’ve got a box of each buried somewhere in the humidor. I’ll have to dig them out. 2

The wrappers aren’t super dark or toothy so I got good ones I guess! Only ever smoked a few of the Monte Robustos. They didn’t impress me enough to buy boxes. 1
Popular Post Justins123 Posted May 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted May 24, 2025 Btw this is an interesting read from Simon Chase. Not particularly flattering re the origins of “limited edition” Cuban cigars... I’m convinced the whole program was in reaction to the success Padron and Fuente were having in the United States with “hard to get” double banded cigars, i.e., the 1964 line and Opus X. Habanos realized they needed to compete in what was (despite the embargo) one of their biggest markets. So if you’re pissed at the current state of pricing and chasing LE, RE, Reserva nonsense, don’t blame the Chinese. It can all be traced back to Chase, Carlos Fuente, and American smokers. 3 2

I have not had a chance to smoke a Wide Churchill yet. All of the Short Churchills I have had have been really enjoyable and each with razor sharp burns.

Popular Post Glass Half Full Posted May 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted May 24, 2025 Panatela (EML Jul 2015) Usually an intensely satisfying little cigar at the end of day, when some complex but brief flavors are desired. Amazingly, close to 10 years on, this started wonderfully but seems to need some years to fully blossom. (In case helpful for any other folks still waiting on these.) 27
