Some leather, some cocoa now on the 2nd and leading to the final third, but that’s all I taste. Nice! Is it the full strength cigar as advertised though? Not compared to a CC, I mean compared to a full strength Nicaraguan cigar. I want to try this, but am leery of the pomp and circumstance of most cigar manufacturers. “A Cubanesque profile” (their advertising words) and “eat a big dinner before you smoke this” doesn’t really jibe…🙂

It was a full strength cigar but I feel that I’ve had stronger ones in the past and I definitely did not have a big dinner before lol. 1

Popular Post Glass Half Full Posted 13 hours ago Popular Post Posted 13 hours ago Last night I enjoyed my first cigar(s) of 2026. (I’d intended on just one ) Up to now, I’ve bought into -- and enjoyed -- starting and ending each year with one of the latest “year of” releases from Davidoff. For 2026, that’s the “Year of the Horse” (of course, of course ) This Davidoff is big to me (55 RG) — same goes for its oversized pricing. I will say, the Year of the Horse had just an incredibly good start. Especially for such a new cigar, the opening was really something — complex and enjoyable, cocoa nibs, cedar and spices. But, after a while, it got kinda “samey” and boring. So much so, I was compelled to add another set of flavors: a little JL petite corona (MPE Abr 2010). Enjoying the two together brought the much-missing twang and I still occasionally turned back to the Davidoff’s singular complexity. They went well together! But I think I’m done chasing Davidoff’s new “Year of” cigars…as they keep getting bigger in size and price. Last night’s experience highlighted the wonders of a“little old” over a “lotta” new. A horse is a horse. Thank goodness for little old CCs. 19
