PigFish Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I wake up this morning to a commotion of birds all squawking in my front yard. After 20 minutes or so I decide to scare off the crows and look what I find perched on my balcony rail. -Piggy

JMH Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 He's up a bit past his bedtime! We have a few owls around here, though you don't normally see more of them than a flash through the trees late at night. Just got in from feeding a dozen cockatoos on the back deck.
samb Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 What a beautiful, beautiful creature . I've never seen one. We have grackles and geese in the winter.
Bartolomeo Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Pretty cool..........I remembered when I lived in Cali, we had mountain lion's, cows, rattlesnakes, black widows, etc on our property......got to love California Good thing the Owl wasnt eyeing your cigar collection..... Bart
PigFish Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 He seemed to be fascinated with the Hoyo Petit Robusto that I was smoking! He roosted here the whole day and was still perched when we went to the in-laws at about 4 pm. Got a picture that appears to show some blood on his talons. I kept my little dog inside! -P
mkz Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Thats an impressive bird Piggy! All I got was face-to-face with a moose yesterday. The dog chased it away though...
Kangaroo495 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Almost as scary as the drunks which are lying all over the street this morning after the big football match last night. Wish I had a dog to chase them away too...
dicko Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 we have some cute little owls (not like yours thats a killer!) up in our gum trees - 'barking owls' - beautiful birds but in the morning they make this horrible noise like a dog with a lung condition barking (too many winnie blues for rex)
blooz4u Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 That would scare the crap outta me, as I have to go to the zoo to see those sorts....
tigger Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 A rare gift to see one up that close. We've been having fun listening to both the Great Horneds and the Barreds hooting off in the woods lately with the coyotes jumping in on the chorus occasionally.
PigFish Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Looks like my college calculus professor! I am thinking that he has the same look as Rob might if I were allowed to peruse the Czar vaults! -LOL
El Presidente Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I have seen that look many times the morning after a bender with the lads Great Photo Ray.
mbrody Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 My 22 month son keeps asking for the "Owl" whenever I am on the computer...look what you started Piggy, I have to search for this thread every few days just to keep him happy!
