New Cigar Protection Society? or Frauds?

Recommended Posts

I love getting this sort of e-mail in the mail so i am going pass it onto you guys for analysis. As a rule I don't deal with ****tards who don't refer to me by name or are too afraid to give me theirs.

Have a read.

1. what exactly makes them experts?

2. have i misread something....or do they actually say they don't guarantee anything?

3. What do they get out of it?

4. Who are the people behind it.

For the CSI guys at FOH.......Sic. :perfect10:

Subject: Information from AuthenticCubanCigars Society

Dear store owner,

I'm the founder of Authentic Cuban Cigars Society. Our vision is to

make it easier for Habanos smokers to find online stores selling

authentic Habanos - your customers.

As part of this vision we have reviewed over 100 large online stores,

claiming to sell authentic Habanos. We clarify and classify the stores

based on what kind of information they display.

We have recently launched this site at www.authenticcubancigars.org.

At this point only Habanos S.A. and the official distributors have

been informed and we have recieved good response from them.

Before we promote the site on the Internet, we'd like you to check if

the information we have on your site is correct. If we misunderstood

anything while reviewing your site or if you would like to complement

the data we're using to classify your store, please get back to us and

we'll adjust the information immediately.

You'll find information about the criterias and the classification as

well as the stores at www.authenticcubancigars.org/reviewed_stores.html.

Of course, if you have any questions or feedback for us, you are

always welcome to contact us at [email protected] or

through the forms on our contact pages.

Note: We never claim to know the truth and never guarantee that an

online store listed on our site is selling either authentic or

counterfeit Habanos cigars. Our site only gathers and displays what we

think is vital information from these sites. We never suspect or claim

that any of the stores sell counterfeits. Our vision is only to

influence stores to display information that make their customers feel

safe, while shopping for Habanos.

Hope you understand and supports our vision.

Thank you for your time!

--

Best regards

Gordon M.

Would this site not be counter productive when it comes to our North American friends ?

I have no idea. Let's find out how "Big" this ACCS is. Who Gordon M is. is M his real last name? have a look at their site...how many errors have they made, the flaws to the proposed system.

Frist, who & what are they protecting you from if they say that they don't

know who is selling fakes or real Habanos, plus, no one needs them to find online stores, SO ? :perfect10:

Next comes the request for 6 - 8 boxes of cigars (for free), including those most frequently counterfeited (Cohiba Esplendido, Monte 2, etc.) so that they can ensure that the cigars you are selling are in fact real. (at least that's how I would do it if I were a shyster. Hey, if they get 3 companies to bite, it provides them a nice little stock of cigars for the winter.

the only purpose I can imagine is that they want to be a 'go to' place for the novice internet buyer that isn't familiar with whom or where to go to for Habanos. To that end I would imagine that they would get royalties from the web site for every redirection from their web site to the retailer's site.

Seems interesting, but I'm not sure how much money can be made by one web site to redirect people?

Okay, I'll bite. What a crock of dog ****!

They send you an email stating

"Note: We never claim to know the truth and never guarantee that an

online store listed on our site is selling either authentic or

counterfeit Habanos cigars."

And yet the site panders to the idea that you are getting an authentic cuban cigar if it is on 1 of their "certified" lists. Blow me!

These types of business' really chap my ass. Don't be suprised if that thing is actually successful, and you find cigar shops being strong armed into signing on for fear they will be "classifed" as fakes.

Not sure about this one :D ,in essence it shoulkd be a useful tool depending on the accuracy of their info.

I also noticed no body made the top rated section

There are also stores i have bought from in the past and have had no problems, that are in the somewhat dodgy section

I think as in most cases it is customer beware, but if it is legitimate it would be a good tool to weed out unscrupulous online ventures, not that we have to worry about that here :P

Cheers Oz :P

These guys are ******* clueless! I mean who died and left some chumps in Los Angeles in charge? I ask you? Who is going to guarantee what products another guy sells? The whole concept is stupid!

I have contacted distributors before about retailers and they won't give you the time of day. I can't wait to see how many distributors play ball with these guys; I doubt any will.

Furthermore these guys have totally ignored the parallel import market as if those cigars were somehow illegitimate products. And marking the lesser expensive sites as higher risk... kindergarten ****! Next they will be taking advertising and blowing the whole arms distance credibility aspect out the ******* window.

Horse piss! Looks like a shakedown to me. -The Pig

if I have to take a punt i would put a Tony Soprano "Lite" spiv behind it.

Come into a market with no history, no name, no credibility and no idea.

Say you are going to clean it up and be the new standard.

Actually expect guys who are doing the right thing to play ball knowing full well there is a payday somewhere for this mob?

The first to sign up will be the fake purveyors. What a blessed opportunity for a stamp of approval. It is like having a gold medal on a bottle of wine .....except this gold Medal would be the Angolan Wine Show.

The second to sign up will be those afraid of missing out. I look forward to seeing who hold strong and treat this with the contempt it deserves and those who cave like subservient dogs.

Not that I don't have an open mind. Where is my middle finger raised Smilie.
