EDICION LIMITADA 2009

• Romeo y Julieta, Bolívar and H.Upmann are the brands selected by Habanos s.a. for its Edición Limitada 2009.

• Launching due out for the second semester of the year in all markets all around the world.

Received year after year with great acceptance, the Edición Limitada distinguishes itself for the inclusion of sizes which are not part of the usual range of the brand, and is made up by a selection of the most prestigious Habanos brands as well.

The Edición Limitada distinguishes itself for the careful selection of two-year aged selected tobacco leaves (wrapper, binder and filler) which turns this product into something very special.

 Romeo y Julieta Duke (Girth 54 x 140 mm in the length). This new size will be delighting the senses of the true Habanos lovers in a delicate combination of passion and excellence. Available in labelled boxes with 10 sticks in one layer

 Bolívar Petit Belicosos (Girth 52 x 125 mm in the length). This brand is presented within the Limited Edition for the first time. One of the most full bodied Habanos that boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour that makes it one of the most sought-after brands amongst experienced smokers. Cigars will be packaged in labelled boxes comprising 25 units.

 H.Upmann Magnum 48 (Girth 48 x 110 mm in the length). Always regarded as a light to medium-flavoured smoke, this cigar stands out for its smooth flavour and delicate aroma. Cigars will be presented in SLB boxes containing 25 units.

Since 2000, Habanos s.a. has been releasing the Edición Limitada within the most prestigious brands such as Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, Hoyo de Monterrey and H.Upmann.

My boss came back from Cancun with a small pretty "glass-top" box filled with 3 "Cohibas" with an EL2009 band on them.

I told him he really really shouldn't have...

I thought I trained him better... if he wants to bring something back... bring alcohol!

I'm somewhere in-between "I can't wait" and "none for me, thanks." I don't feel compelled to try the LEs. But I am curious about them. Especially the Bolivar. So I'll pick up a couple of singles, try them, that will satisfy my curiosity and I probably won't buy any more.

This year I think I'll get a few boxes of '08 regular production cigars and let them age for a while. Lusis, Siglos, Upmans of all vitolas, RASS and so on. I'll leave the ELs and Regionals for deeper pockets and more discerning pallets.

I hear that. Perhaps it's to maintain some consistency with the RyJ Petit Piramides from a few years ago.

I sure would like to see some cigars released in 13/12 SLB like the now defunct ERdM Tainos.

If the opportunity arises to try them, I will. But I don't think I can justify the price of a box purchase. I don't smoke them often enough for them to take up valuable humidor space.

Being someone who loves the Cuban cigar I will likely procure a handful of singles as well. Will it gaul me? Yes it will. But each cigar is an independent experiment. I cannot fairly endorse or deride (renew my license to kill!) without paying for the experience.

I have outgrown the need to purchase every cigar under the sun but I still contrast that with the desire to achieve cigar wisdom through broadening my experiences. This is the only thread that ties me to EL's and RE's; the desire to experience.

You hear me H SA? When I go out for a barn burning I don't go blindly, or behind a hood. I come armed with the experience; an experience I paid for.

I'm sure they will make it into your humidor. You know, that big room with all the cigars that you pretend is your office. Seriously though, Piggy makes excellent points that really got me thinking a lot about regular production vs. special releases. My income and budget no doubt pigeon-holes me into the consumer bracket and not the collector one. I smoke what I buy now, and many of them. Bottom line for me, is 90% of specials just are not that much better to justify buying them by the box. Love to try them, hate to buy them...
