I love both of these cigars. I love them for different reasons. 

Answer the poll questions assuming age of the cigars and construction quality being equal. 

Of course, answer only if you have tried both.

I’m partial to the PLPC but both are great when they hit. The Monte 4 generally strikes me as having a bit more kick.

I love them both, but this might come down to year of production. Recent M4s I've had have been phenomenal and PLPCs are always good. The latter does make me sneeze more for some reason, but y'all know I'm weird for other reasons too. If the choice was for '20+ production, then M4. Otherwise PLPC.

Note: as a rule, I don't touch the PLPC until the 6 year mark.

When you have an aged box of Por Larranaga Petit Coronas that have hit their mark (i.e. they've reached their peak potential in caramel), there really isn't anything else that compares.

I'm not a big fan of the vitola but I like both. I may have had more tent peg MC#4 than any other cigar. PLPCs have been much better constructed cigars. I never got the caramel thing with the PL but they can be outstanding if left alone long enough. I'll go with the PLPC but once in a long while I've smoked a MC#4 that was sublime and got me chasing that dragon.

The PLPC is such a unique cigar so as much as I love the M4, when they are both on it is really no contest. Well aged PLPC are incredible.

Man. Tough to choose this one although you get 50 PLPC! I still went Monte 4 as I have a connection to those from way back and when on its the classic Petit Corona to me.

Assuming age is the same, IMO if they're both 5-7+ years old, I'll go for PLPC every time. If they're both less than 5 years, I'll take the Monte 4.

PLPC for me. First 50 cab I bought, I remember coveting it big time. I've around 6 or so left and at about 5 years, they're fantastic. A great stick to share with noobs and seasoned smokers alike. Verging on being good value.

My box of M4 are incredibly dark, almost maduro, I've had a couple of okay ones but nothing that made me want to buy a second box.

I must confess though, the best cigar I have ever tasted was a Monte 4 from the 80’s.

Even the cello smelled like flowers.

Trying to make a choice on these gives me a headache. 🤕 I love both of these. Unfortunately construction inconsistency with the No.4 has stopped my purchasing of them at current pricing.

I’ve yet to understand the PLPC. I only have a 50 cab from 2024 and I’ve had 2-3 and none have been remarkable. Wood and cardboard box are the notes I get. I understand they transform after 8-10 years into caramel bombs so I’ll wait…but Monte 4 are delicious at all times.

I think I’ve smoked more PLPC than any other cigar, and it’s a no brainer for me. The M4 does hold some memories since they were among first boxes I ever picked up-probably for all of us. PLPC when young has this interesting minerality which is good (but maybe not for everyone), and well aged they somehow turn like magic into something that’s kind of unbelievable. It’s a special cigar, and should be in everyone’s humidor.

I would rather smoke a Monte Open than a PLPC. I must be the only person on this forum that thinks the PLPC defines the word ‘dreadful’ with 5 years down on them. ☮️

Sometimes it hard to be honest like this. It’s what makes us great, our differences. I’ll be the only person on this forum to admit I never really got the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo des Dieux. I wouldn’t say dreadful, but I just didn’t get it.
