EAR: Your three most reliable/consistent Cuban cigars....and your least reliable Cuban Cigar?

"......I started building my CC collection in 2023 and cost is a factor as it is for many. I supplement my CC obsession with Fab 5 Robusto Trinity and Spada Gorda + Corta Suave. 50 Ring gauge thereabouts is my sweet spot. I don't want to waste my dollars and I want to buy Cuban boxes to put away for 2--3 years at least in part. Could you give me your three most reliable, consistent cigars and the one to avoid (least reliable)? Appreciated"

PLPC. It's still cost effective, it's a cab 50, good young and aged, same smoking time as a Robusto. Just do it.

Most reliable (and available) for me. 

1. Partagas Serie D 4 

2. Bolivar Belicoso Finos

3. Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Rio Seco

 

Least reliable. 

Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill (blend is all over the place).

3. Upmann Half Corona

Personally I haven’t smoked a bad one of any of these regardless of box. To be fair though, I’ve only owned 2-3 boxes of each. 
 

Least reliable for me but still good when they're on.

Montecristo except Especial and No 2. That and Punch are all over the shop for me.

I agree with El Presidente and would add Ramon Allones Superiores. Even though they are technically a limited LCDH release, until recently they always seemed to be regularly available, a real 5,000 box miracle.

**Hon. Mention— The Mag 56 EL was prob the most reliable non reg production I’ve ever experienced, kinda sad they’re mostly gone now.

Least Reliable:

Anything RYJ— Short Church, Belis, Churchill…is there a more inconsistent marca? My God they can be magical or totally flavorless—from the same box!

For me:

1. Partagas D4 - Really not my favorite, but they are more than solid, and I don’t think I’ve ever had one that’s “off” or with construction issues. On everyone’s top 3 in reliability because you always know what you’re getting. 

2. HUHC - Real nice (and relatively quick) showcase of the marca profile with great price/performance. Always on point. 

3. Punch Punch - Never had a bad one. 

Least reliable- The RASS is probably my favorite Robusto when on, but I’ve gotten quite a bit of stinkers from multiple boxes.

Most reliable - Partagas E2 . Haven't had a bad one. Romeo y Juleta Petit Royales. In tubos they have been little faithfuls. Diplo 2. Only pyramid I really smoke much of anymore.

Least reliable would be Monte 2. They are great when on but I have been burned a lot by these.

Most reliable - Monte Petit Edmundo, Monte 2 , Hoyo San Juan...special mention to the Partagas 898, they trump everything and you just can't get them.

Least reliable - anything Fonseca, San Cristobal El Principe, Cohiba Esplendidos...yep, every box I have purchased have been all over the place.

Interesting, RyJ in various vitolas seem to be the leading most inconsistent. For good reason, in my opinion, although I have a particular fondness for the box pressed Churchills. The Lusitanias and D4 seem to be leading the most consistent and the Punch Punch, on the other hand, seemed to show up on both sides several times, which I find a bit surprising.
