Goal is to get back to 185 lbs, a weight which I feel pretty good carrying around while still able to enjoy beer and a fewer other things.

I gotta say. So far the feet have started out pretty good! The contest is still young...

I think you've scared them off. Hoof complex.

My feet are pretty darn nasty, I hope it doesn't get any worse than it is now.

This is desperately needed motivation to dust off the rowing machine and get to work.   And maybe put down the fork / have slightly less booze but definitely smoke more.

Go get'em boys!!!

I failed two consecutive years on the Fat Bastid comp. Last time was '20 or '21.

But something clicked for me in 2024.

It didn't happen overnight, heck, it's still a work in progress, but went 130kg to 88kg at last check. Want to to 80kg as my end goal - for a total of 50kg loss.

Cardio and calisthenics were my ticket. Good luck!!

Nothing to do with diet!? Or alcohol consumption!?

That's an amazing transformation.

oh, lots to do with both of those things!

diet wise, I didn't follow anything but 500 calorie deficit a day. But nothing specific, just a 3500 reduction a week (1lbs a week loss from that).

Alcohol wise I quit drinking beer. Moved to vodka cocktails (yes, boring, but better than water).

Biggest thing for me, in my mid 40s, was discovering exercising. I was so overweight. I shouldn't have been able to exercise. But I wanted to. I needed to. So I started walking. When I could walk 5km without stopping, I tried jogging a bit (0.5km jog, 4.5km walk). I did that until I could run jog 5km without stopping (that took about a year). But once that happened, there was no stopping me. From not being able to climb stairs, I ran three half marathons (with the first still over 100kg's).

Realized after a lifetime of being overweight, the freedom of running was something I never knew I'd love. It's, by far, my favourite thing in life. I can run for multiple hours without stopping. Sure, I'm not fast. But I love it.

That's what's keeping my weight off.

Lots of people ask how I did it. When they find out it wasn't a secret die, nor medication, rather, hard work and exercise, I quickly lose their attention.

I want to get a full marathon in before June of this year, when I turn 46. We'll see. I signed up for one April 12th. :)

I frikkin hate running. Kills me of boredom! But good for you. I regularly run at 90+kg. But short distances. When the WOD dictates. Otherwise, the odd 5k.... Needs must.

There's a thing, C25k. In case it helps anyone. Love it or loathe it! It's good for you!
