Popular Post MoeFOH Posted August 24, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2025 Going to a 50th anniversary screening of Jaws this week... what a classic! Such an icon for the genre, exemplified by its chilling two-note theme... Prompts me to think, what's the greatest or most iconic horror/thriller of all-time? Post yours up! Most iconic scenes, quotes, score, artwork, etc... 🔪 📽️ 6

Popular Post my happy place Posted August 25, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 25, 2025 I love psychological/thrillers and I never get tired of Alfred Hitchcock. Absolutely love them. 7
Popular Post riderpride Posted August 25, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 25, 2025 Excellent topic, and enjoy the screening! "They're coming to get you Barbera..." Romero nailed both the the cold war and racial tensions in this classic. Cheers 6
JohnS Posted August 25, 2025 Posted August 25, 2025 I consider Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film, "Psycho" as the greatest horror film ever made. The reasons for this include the groundbreaking twists (killing off the lead character before the second act, the development of the Norman Bates character at the end, the iconic score by Bernard Hermann and off course the famous shower scene). This is just ahead of Stanley Kubrick's 1980 film, "The Shining", mainly because Stephen Spielberg watched it 25 times before he declared it was a masterpiece, Room 237, all that 'Redrum', references to Johnny Carson and the lead character, Jack Torrance having weird conversations with people either real or imaginary telling stories about caretakers 'correcting' their family. 4
westg Posted August 25, 2025 Posted August 25, 2025 Jaws is so good. God knows how many times we have used the phrase "don't wait for me" pulling our lobster pots. Those three are just perfect and the roles they play , just brilliant. We are going to the 50th anniversary screening as well Steve. Don't forget your choc top. 4

Ken Gargett Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 jaws was brilliant. i'd read the book so i had an idea. still didn't help. sharks still scare the crap out of me. the shining bored me senseless. tried it several times. no better. for me, and again i had read the book first but it did not help, 'Silence of the Lambs'. scared me out of my gourd. i drove home after and did not stop at a single red light. just wanted to get inside and lock the doors. not sure i helped those around enjoy the film any more by yelling out, in the book, it is Amarone, not chianti. but it is. 3
Ken Gargett Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 jaws is having its 50th? so Born to Run and Jaws came out pretty much the same week? good times!
E-Sheriff Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I just watched Jaws over the weekend. The wife and I were scrolling Netflix looking for something to watch and I scanned past the preview. I couldn’t believe it when she said she’s never seen it before, so naturally I made her watch it. What a classic! 2

All he'd do is talk about the film instead of teaching. 1
joeypots Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I'm going to go with The Shining. Kubrick can't be beat. Movies like The Exorcist and Jaws don't scare me because the special effects don't look real enough to convince me. Alien was brilliant but is it a horror movie? I think not. I'd call it science fiction. 1
Fuzz AI Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Feh, kiddies movies. You want real horror? Spice World The Movie. After being forced to watch that, I had nightmares for months on end that I'd be forced to watch it again. 3

BrightonCorgi Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I was little hesitant to mention this one as it is so disturbing that it'll change your life. I don't want to be responsible for that horror. Megan is Missing
