Popular Post El Presidente Posted June 27, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2025 What's up for the weekend? Just over two weeks until Di and I head overseas so I need to get the irrigation system in my garden sorted. I started last week and ran into a problem at the 15 minute mark. I stopped at the 16 minute mark. How on earth can one man be so good at some things and so appalling at others. I have some tastings from the Fabrica 5 that I need to do. Robustos and Lonsdales. I will conduct those while watching the Broncos/Warriors league game this afternoon. Hankering for simple dinner fare of steak (rare), egg and caramelised onion sandwich. Great footy fare. Sunday, gym, family, lunch mum and dad, work week prep over a cigar. Easy one. I have been on a dry spell and discovering the world of non alcoholic wines. What on earth is going on! While sparkling whites are almost passable, the reds are hideously undrinkable. If anyone here has a zero alcohol red wine they would like to endorse, shout it out as I would love to give it a try. Note: Dry spell for Di and I ends in 2 weeks. Release the Kraken!!! 7

loose_axle Posted June 28, 2025 Posted June 28, 2025 Doing some further unpacking, decluttering around the apartment this morning. A wine tasting at the local wine store after lunch, and some mates coming around for dinner tonight (whipping up a beef stroganoff and apple crumble for after) which will no doubt involve more wine and cigars. Tomorrow going to the Sharks v Storm in Melbourne where I will have to put up with our dear small state syndromed friends cheering in the wrong places, booing great passages of play, and reminding me of how great QLD is in Origin, ye gods. 3
Popular Post JohnS Posted June 28, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2025 After a spell of cold weather on the east coast of Australia over the last few weeks, it looks like a nice day is panning out today on Saturday. Add to that the fact that I've spent countless hours preparing mid-year reports, and this has now concluded, I very much look forward to lighting up a cigar and enjoying it in the warm, afternoon sunshine. Tomorrow, on Sunday, we have my sister-in-law's 50th birthday party. 6

Popular Post Ciscojohansson Posted June 28, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2025 A Wedding, and I am bringing a 5 pack of H.Upmann Half Coronas. I might be the only cigar smoker there, but I hope that someone will join me. 6
Popular Post Dlowil Posted June 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 29, 2025 We had our third child (first son) this past Monday. A couple of early am workouts while the rest of the house sleep is my time to myself. There is no shortage of things to do. Will get the girls outside while I work in the yard and get things prepared for the 4th. Throw in some naps and some meditative time whipping up some delicious dishes and the weekend will be a goners. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! 12

Popular Post westg Posted June 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 29, 2025 Hit a river run off creek for a couple of hrs. A solid black bream for lunch. Accompanied by a RG and black coffee. A beautiful Sunday morning. 12

GVan Posted June 29, 2025 Posted June 29, 2025 Family is in for the 4th of July week celebrations. Bought some 1 ½" thick prime ribeyes at Costco and planning an old fashion brown-paper shrimp boil one afternoon. Bought some Alaskan Cod (shipped nitrogen frozen from Alaska) and Maine Lobsters to add to the boil. 1 1

Found this one recently in a sale (ignore the colour, last on offer ☮️). Threw out the original repair kit, et voilà, holds everything you need, in a super compact format. Including up to four (tubed) cigars Long Corona size (a Churchills on top if need be). 😂 For those folks not attaching special importance to lounge-compatibility. 😅 7

Although we don't plan to go "wet" (not sure if i like that term) anytime foreseeable. Didn't know about NA wines. The de-alcohol process, I would imagine, has a lot of negative affects on red wines. Reverse osmosis changes the chemical make up which has major affects on profile. Whites being more acidic and less complexity probably would stand up better. Maybe. Rose would work?? The beers however have come a long way. Also, mocktails like tonic water, simple syrup and lime juice are amazing for hanging outside in the heat. Whites are indeed better but that is off a low bar Sparkling is passable. I picked up a NA sparkling red to give a try later this week. If I come across something half decent in NA reds, I will post it up. NA beers, we have a cracking NA beer brand called "Heaps". Heads and shoulders above everything else NA beer wise in this country. I drink it happily. 3
