A simple poll... or maybe not so simple... what's your favourite American Sport - at any level? 🏈  🏀 🏒

Is there a clear standout or do you follow several with equal interest... ? Is it the pro level you love the best or lower tier stuff?... How's the sport faring, what's good and what sucks about it right now, new rule changes, teams, etc and so on? 🤔

The big 4 are listed in the poll or there's an option to add something else... vote & discuss.

Hockey 100%.

Stanley Cup Finals is about grinding it out - everyone need to find a different level of play. It's ruthless aggression and a thing of beauty and skill at the same time. Constant battles where even 'skill' players find their inner beast.

I love football - College, NFL, CFL, but all of those games have a very produced and manufactured feel in comparison.

Baseball comes in third, but a lot of drama and not much action.

My blood pressure likes those sports in the reverse order.

Cheers!

I voted Football, but gotta give major respect to the NHL playoffs. Agree with @riderpride that the players take the intensity & passion to a new level. The skills displayed on the ice are mind blowing to a southerner like me who never tried the sport myself.

One caveat to my football vote is that I lean big time toward the college football game vs. NFL. I'm afraid the powers that be like TV/media, big money alums/boosters, and the business of sports have forever tainted "Division I" with NIL, the "playoff" etc. This was likely inevitable, but I've already noticed many of my fellow fans are seeing their passion diminish with the constant roster changes, etc. I'm seeing my interest in the non-FBS teams grow as the players seem more vested to their institution vs a payday, and the playoff is well established and a lot of fun.

I love following NFL football. Every game matters. Every snap creates tension and/or excitement. There’s hope right up until a last second Hail Mary pass beats the team you root for (because the head coach made terrible decisions in play calling and clock management) and hope is instantly replaced with anger and despair 😡. NFL is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of how the league is run.

NBA is a clown show, the players are far too fussy and the refereeing is way too subjective.

MLB is great for playoffs, otherwise I think the season is too long.

NHL is great - I can't even ice skate so I don't have a proper appreciation for what these guys do. NHL players are probably my favorite athletes - no fuss, hard working guys.

PGA Tour is actually what I watch the most. Golf is so easy to watch and you can tune in and out.

Tennis - after this weekend's French Open final, you'd be hard pressed to find a more entertaining sporting event to watch...

Great poll question. For me it would go in the following:

NFL>College Football>College Basketball (sparty homer)>PGA>post season hockey>post season baseball

With all that said; my first love was certainly the NHL. Back in the Red Wing's heyday when we didn't miss the postseason for 20 some odd years I was a rabid fan. Then other sports started to peak my interest and with the lack of quality product the NHL fell by the wayside. Actually this is my first time in about five years that I've watched the Stanley Cup finals....what a helluva matchup so far. I long for my Wings to play meaningful hockey games again.

For me it is clearly hockey, especially now with my hometown team in the finals. It is so frustrating watching and not understanding how the refs are calling each game so differently and IMO it has really affected the overall enjoyment of the game, but still by far and away my favorite sport to watch (and play). Baseball is in second place, and very much enjoy watching baseball once the Stanley Cup finals are over, especially if the Jays and/or Mariners are hanging around a playoff spot. Casual fan of football and will watch regularly, will never watch basketball at any level.

That is a great answer. Well said.

Playoff baseball and ice hockey are just unparalleled for their drama and excitement. But if we include the regular season it’s football.

My mom is from Canada, so I can admit I am a bit biased. For me, there is nothing like the intensity of playoff hockey. I love the sport all season, but the way the players step up to another level when the playoffs come around make it fantastic to watch. Most other American sports don't do much for me, but I wish more international sports were popular in the US, soccer(football) and rugby for example are great to watch.

Football, Basketball, Ice Hockey in that order. Football is #1 to me by a country mile.

If we look at the numbers, based on viewing statistics within the United States, the popularity of sports would be as below:

  3. Basketball (11%)
  4. Soccer (4%)

  8. Tennis (1%)
  9. Golf (1%)
  10. Mixed Martial Arts/MMA (1%)

The NFL is by far the most popular sport amongst Americans. But this poll takes into account the sentiments of our members internationally, so I understand why Canadians would opt for Ice Hockey. As for me, I grew up with a Basketball Stadium next to my local high school, and currently I live near a sports field that caters for Rugby Union and Rugby League in the Winter and Cricket and Baseball in the summer. Some of these sports have a significant international following.
