I’ve got about 10 boxes in the humidor, but I usually only light up one, maybe two sticks a week, usually on a chill Sunday while I map out the week ahead. Robustos are my go-to, though a good Belicoso or Corona Gorda gets some airtime too. I’ve been meaning to explore Churchills, but honestly, I just don’t smoke enough to justify the format… yet.

I’m not much of a drinker, but when I do pour something, it’s always quality. Same goes for cigars. I’m happy to sit on a box for 5 to 7 years if I know it’s going to pay off with a premium, dialed-in 94-95 point experience down the road. I know it doesn't always pan out.

It’s that time of year where I usually pick up a couple of boxes to age. something I can crack open in 2032 and be totally stoked I had the patience to hold onto. What are you reaching for right now that you think will really evolve into something special with proper rest?

Appreciate the recs—always down to broaden the horizon.

Over to you good folks. 2022-24 available production recommendations based on what you have smoked from this period ;)

For me and obviously a tiny sample size. I can't believe how consistently good JL No 2 are. R&J Wide Churchill, I seem to be receiving clone boxes not only in wrapper shade, but construction as well. The Cuban Cigar Gods continue to smile upon me with Ramon Allones SS are they the best they have ever been. I think so ! Now none of these are formats that I would age for too long...that said, I think a box of each may definitely be worth the stretch.

I'm trying aging QdO 54s. I smoked my prior box too quickly since each one was better than the one before it. I'm curious how far they can go but I was very happy with them at the 3-4 year mark as they were 92-93 for me just before the box emptied; and they started at 90-91.

I hope my 50s follow suit. I have a couple boxes that I've basically written off...

I think Cohibas demand age and benefit enough to say that they are wasted smoked too young. RASS are in that category as well but waste is not quite as pronounced for what used to be an 8-10$ cigar.

Most Cuban cigars, imho, will age well for at least 7 years. Upmann and Bolivar come to mind right away. The jury might be out on aged Monte Cristo, some think they deteriorate after after about three or four years. I'm not in that camp.

The 50s don't float my boat at all. I smoked a handful and gave the rest away. Keep us posted as they age. I'm curious if they improve.

I don't see anything locking this down to CCs. I'd be looking at Nudies and Bond Roberts if you are looking for anything performance guaranteed.

Otherwise, it's whatever you can afford to bag in your preferred vitolas. I'd be looking for Upmann & MC #2, SCdH La Punta, Epi1&2 & JL1&2. Punch is underrated and they're never around when I'm shopping with intent. Cohiba if money means nothing.

I'd also definitely put down some DC or Churchills on that timeframe, your smoking habits will either change or you'll be able to flip them at a extra premium. HdM, Lusis, Punch

If I had to do it...Cohiba Coronas Especiale,  Connie A, Libertadores, P2's, Unicos, Monte Dble. Ed's & Esp. No. 2, Trini Coloniales (may take a little longer).

My favorite DC/Churchills: Winnies, Lusis, HdM DC, Punch DC, Sancho Panza and Bolivar Gigantese. I wish I could find some SLR DCs. Those were spectacular.

I would say you're favourites from H.Upmann and if money isn't a factor then certainly some Cohiba Robustos. Both marcas performing so well right now and would further develop in complexity in the years to come.
