El Presidente Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 It is a question asked of me yesterday by an Aussie mate. I gave him two cigar recommendations Let me define "balltearer" as he sees it. " A cigar that grabs you by the short and curlies and doesn't let go from first drag to last" Yes....Aussie members on this forum who have been on the deck would know him Give me your "balltearer" recommendations if any 1
loose_axle Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I probably find the Partagas Lusitannias, and the Partagas line the heaviest in general but even then I don’t find it a ball tearer. Medium-Full to Full on occasion. If he wants a balltearer smoke a Pysko7 from Indiana Ortez or some of the double ligero offerings from LFD. It was a case of In Between Daze for me, I still go green at the memory.
BrightonCorgi Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Several of the Partagas Limitada Edition cigars fit this description.
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 Fresh RyJ Cazzie does it for me. Butt kicker on the nicotine, viscous smoke, and chewy flavor. 9
Chas.Alpha Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Partagas Petit Corona Especials. No subtle flavors, just tobacco and nicotine. Not in that order. 4
bredy387 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 To any real ‘balltearer,’ I would recommend trying out the Partagás Serie P No. 2 to get right to the point and does not leave you hanging. Also the Bolivar Royal Corona is common which also has that in your face attitude. 1
MagicalBikeRide Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 The Montecristo EL 2016 (Dantes I think is the name). I smoked one in 2017 and it knocked me sideways. Dipped into the box for the second time just recently and - bang - same thing. I had to go have a little lie down. Complete misery all round. 2
Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 I second the Cazzie. Fresh, they're monsters. I've noticed recent E2's around 2020 are very strong compared to the orginal releases which were more floral. 5
Li Bai Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Cazadores for me too. I've had Party Shorts that could fit the definition too. 👍 2

The ELs tend to pack a punch, don't they? Cohiba Sublimes are a whopper too. 2

And also with many other above, the Cazzies are in your face, especially with age. Along those same lines, the Party 898 is always a cigar that seems to be really in your face. (Although my experiences are limited to 2016 and 2012s.) 2
Tunkat92 Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 The only “balltearer” CC I experienced was the HU Propios. 1
rabidraccoon Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Funnily enough, some of the PLPC's in a 50 cab I am smoking through right now were pretty strong on the nicotine (this cab is from 2018 so they are not young). I'm not a regular BBF smoker but I remember one of them being quite strong too.
puromaniac Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Glad to see the votes for Cazadores. Gets mine, too.
MrBirdman Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 “Balltearer” is one of those words I can’t read without wincing. Fresh Cazzies are probably the closest one - young PLPC could occasionally make me lightheaded. Medio Siglo are very strong but in a rich, decadent way and too short to really “tear” too deeply. If you put that blend into a double robusto I’d be on the floor.

RDB Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I can’t agree on the Partagas regular production line. There might be a few oddball boxes, but I’ve never had one that I would describe as immediately strong. In fact P2, E2 and Lusi - all of which I love - generally start very refined, before building up. Sure, by the end of Lusi you have got a ton of nicotine in you. But the strongest flavour off the bat is probably an oily Short. As for other marcas, I’ve probably been knocked around more by RYJ than any other. 1
EasternPromises Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I’ve had a few SLR Regios which for some reason were insanely strong. I literally had to have a coke and a lie-down afterwards to try and pull myself together. I’ve never heard of anyone else having a similar experience with Regios so suspect my sticks may have just come from an “off” batch.
Lamboinee Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 A buddy sent me an undated RyJ Cazzie while back. It was so strong I would be reluctant to try another one without some white sugar handy. Lots of Ball Terroir I'd say. 2
westg Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Had a few Upmann No 2 that were ball tearers. 🫠

Cigar Surgeon Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 As one of the resident breakfast ligero mental patients; the Cazadores are surprisingly 'robust'. They'd get a +1 from me as well. The only other cigar I can think of that actually gave me a solid gut punch was a farmie I had at Robaina's. 1
