Uwiik Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 My dealer offered me a new list, he always sells out quickly so I need to be quick too... 1. HDM Monterreyes 2. HDM Double Corona cab of 50 3. Montecristo Linea Leyenda 4. Montecristo Linea Maltes 5. Montecristo Linea Dumas Never tried any of the above, I like the flavor profile of both marcas. HDM typically have the edge over Montecristo for me but I never ever tried the Montecristo Linea lines. Which one to hoard first?
Popular Post Li Bai Posted August 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2024 I understand that fomo thing mate, many of us have been there, but you should probably rest a bit now. You've been able to acquire stunning boxes but how many of those will still be to your taste in say 1, 3 or 5 years... Enjoy, keep learning about yourself and take your time, that's the best piece of advice I've been given 👍 That being said and knowing it probably won't change your mind anyway, I'd go for the HDM DC 😁 5 1 4
Perla Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 You mean the HDM Montereyes No. 4? If it does cost you a kidney, get them all. as @Li Bai said, my go would also be the DC. But you really need assistance here? Do you? 4
BrightonCorgi Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 50 Cab of anything would be my pick to hoard. 1
Lt4-396 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 From personal experience the Monte Linea aging potential is questionable. All my original release boxes are a shadow of their former selves while fresh boxes are very good. The jury is still out on if they will turn around and become excellent like they once were. I don't chase EL anymore, just don't see the point. The DC is a stunning blend but can be quite inconsistent as well. Out of that list I'd go with the DC, especially since it's a 50 cab. 1
joeypots Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 HDM DC 50. They are good young and age gracefully. 2
Fugu Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Yep, true words by Li Bai. From your postings it seems you got a bit carried away by your new found hobby. 3 1
chasy Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Yeah I’d say smoke some of what you’ve got - provide helpful info to the forum and then come back for questions. My sense if that we should strive to both give and take from the forum. 3
Popular Post LordAnubis Posted August 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2024 I’m gonna go against the consensus here. Buy all and everything that you possibly can at your income level. Go nuts. Here’s the thing. We are living in times where prices are going up, there are avenues to sell stuff (I’m not talk flipping here, I’m just talking a second hand market exists i.e. Bond Roberts etc, etc.) and stock levels are low. So go nuts. Buy 5 boxes of all of the above. You will eventually get around to smoking stuff and either go “I’m so glad I listened to that Mus guy and I have 5 boxes of these to enjoy”, or you’ll say "nah that’s not for me". At that point sell 'em. You will at least break even what you paid. Make friends in your local area, sell it to them at your cost price. Whatever. I say buy as much today as you possibly can with your available disposable income. 8 2
Fugu Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Haha, Mus, I bet that's exactly the kind of advice the OP was aiming for. 3
SUP8333 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 HDM DC for sure, the Linea lines are nice to try, but hoard... hmm. I think there are better for the money. 1
Hammer Smokin' Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Meh, buy them all. You only live once. If you have the means, might as well go for it. 2
El Presidente Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 The only cigar on that list that I would want to be a box/cab owner of and pay market/overs is the HDM DC. 1
PuroDiario Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Hoyo DC. That said, I love the Maltes and I did buy a bunch of them back in the day, so you might want to hoard after all like @LordAnubis says! 1
CampDelta369 Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Only familiar with the HDM DC. A favorite. Those are the Droids we are looking for. 2

If all those with very high income levels did this there would be nothing left for "regular" people, like it's already the case in many places. I've had news from Andorra for example, now if you want to purchase a box of Punch DC like I did, you have to take a box of Siglo de Oro or 55th Aniversario. I think it's a shame and hoarding only reinforces those practices. To each his own of course but I really don't like where this is all going. 😩 2
Uwiik Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 Never knew this question would invite so many responses. I have no other hobby right now other than work, renovating my house and smoking cigars. Nothing else. I used to have a lot of other hobbies but right now I am just focusing on building the future for my 3 kids as they all grow at an unbelievable pace and I fear for their future in this crazier by the day world. SO yes, FOMO in a hobby is real and right now I have no other venue to satisfy it other than cigars, hence the hoarding habit. That's my excuse 🫣 I missed on the Linea 1935, just 2 hours after I made this thread I confirmed the order only to be told all Leyenda and Maltes are sold. I managed to snatch 2 boxes of Linea 1935 Dumas, 2 boxes of HdM Monterreyes No.4 and 2 Boxes of HdM DC cab of '50, not bad for the week. Now I need to take a rest from buying just like @Li Bai kindly advised. I need spare money to pay for those windows! 😜 1
