Popular Post MoeFOH Posted November 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2023 Posting this up because my earlier thread about an Acoustic guitar purchase has been resolved, and I know @Ford2112 and others were interested to see where I ended up... So here it is... this gorgeous Taylor 814ce Blacktop special edition won out in the end. Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back & sides. Now, I had no intention of paying this kind of coin at the outset, but when I saw this guitar I fell in love with it (big sucker for the blacktop aesthetic), so a little windfall I had set aside for a rainy day fell prey. I'm also well aware my abilities do not line up with the price, but... hell... you only live once, and this is a truly magic piece of gear. Playing guitar is good for the soul. And I don't know why I let that particular enjoyment recede from view... Remedy well & truly in place! Listing images... 19 1
Ford2112 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Stunning guitar. I bet it resonates like a beast! 1

kyee Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Congrats! I love the armrest bevel. You should take a visit to the AcousticGuitarForum pages, I'm on there a lot. Lots of discussion on guitars, and Taylors too - as it originally started off as a Taylor guitar site. 1

SCgarman Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Enjoy! A fine American made guitar is a lifetime investment. It will easily serve you the rest of your days, and can be passed down to the next generation. I told my daughter when I'm gone sell everything if you wish, but keep the Gibson Les Paul. 1
Adisaputra Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 That’s amazing. Congrats for your great choice 😄 1
Chibearsv Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 I don’t know anything about guitars (except that I can’t play), but that is certainly a beauty. Congrats! 2
Erm310mce Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Congratulations!!! Beautiful guitar, I love the 800 series. The black top is fabulous and the bevel must be so comfortable on a concert sized guitar. Congrats man, enjoy it!!! Happy for you Erm 1

JohnS Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Great choice, @MoeFOH! I agree, playing acoustic guitar is good for the soul. I spent a number of years finishing work and de-stressing by playing along to Beatle records. Now, I amaze my students by playing songs like 'Blackbird', 'Here Comes the Sun' and Norwegian Wood', for example, note-for note. Trust me, it's a good feeling. 2
bassistheplace Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Congrats MOE. Play beautiful music! 1
joeypots Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Nice guitar. I have found that playing music is a great hobby. I’m not accomplished but so what. And playing with people has created a whole new gang of friends. 2

If she doesn’t want it, I’ll gladly take it off her hands and give it a good home! @MoeFOH congrats on the new Taylor! Makes my 214ce-DLX look like a Walmart guitar! There’s a certain tonal clarity and richness that Taylor has nailed down that I have yet to find in another acoustic. Your 814 will make a great heirloom for generations on! 1

ha_banos Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Looks great @MoeFOH enjoy. I wanted to start learning, very late, ages ago. Bought a Spanish acoustic. Will photo tomorrow. Can't get my hand around the neck! Small hands here. Also I tried learning from some jazz dude. The science completely bamboozled me. Haven't picked it up in years.... 2

Never too late. It's the best thing I've done in ages, since having been on playing hiatus for way too long. And yeah, I would leave the jazz dude out of the equation this time. 1
clone1008 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Absolute stunning work of art. Maybe go this route this time around... 1
SCgarman Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 That would likely bring a smile to Jimmy Page's face. FWIW, as a recreational guitar player, I think what Page did on guitar is monumental. One of the best ever. I love Zeppelin. 2

It's no accident that the commonly-held view of the three best rock guitarists of the 20th century all did not need another guitarist to accompany them on stage at the peak of their creativity. Of course, I am talking about, in order: Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.
