TheDonTX Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Whats up everyone! Looking for some opinions. I love Cohibas. Of course I love others but when craving a Cohiba nothing else will do. I have CORO’s, CPE, sig ii, sig iii and sig IV. Only 3 each left of the siglo’s. Ive always wanted the CCE or COLA and of course ESPY’s but the new price’s and sometimes being rolled tight (CCE and COLA) I cannot buy them now and cant risk major rolling issues. Been very lucky so far 🙏🏼. I can get one more box/pack and it will be my last Cohiba box for awhile. Actually might try vac sealing it after taking a few out. I feel sig ii gets me the Cohiba fix when needed but I love the size of the iii better. It has to be under $1K and im ok with tubo’s. What are your thoughts? Ive smoked multiple ii’s and only one iii. I liked them both.
BoliDan Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 I'm gonna keep it simple. I like the Sig 2, for more power and direct flavors. However, I think they need over 5 years. The 3 is magnificent and more complex, but Im not a fan the floral. 1
Cigar Salute Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Surprised to hear you speak of construction issues on CCE. Have you tried any from the REG/SOP/EBP coded boxes? They've been producing the majority of them the last few years, and the construction has been spot on. If this is a concern though, I say forego both the Sig II & III. Go with the Medio Siglo. Don't let the length fool you, they can easily hit the 75-90 minute mark if you're not rushing through it 2

CCE is made in every factory including goat houses in Camaguey. While quality across all factories is pretty homogenized now there's so much variation in where CCE is made I'm sure crap boxes turn up from time to time. An under-experienced roller and a 38 RG is often a recipe for disaster. As you point out I would stick to known codes like REG, SOP etc. 1 hour ago, TheDonTX said: feel sig ii gets me the Cohiba fix when needed but I love the size of the iii better. How does it compare flavor wise to the sig ii and iii?

havanaclub Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Sig III !! Mind you if you like more strength go with Sig II. Both age beautifully. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The current box I've been working on (which is from 2020) has had abominable construction, and I got a quarter box years ago with the same issue. And not just plugs but also some that only burn on one side. Others go out repeatedly. It is especially frustrating because many have beautiful flavor that quickly goes to hell. That said, when you get a box with decent construction they're excellent, and poor construction isn't the norm. I've just seen it far more commonly that with any of the 1492 series, or with CoLa (many/most of which are still made at EL). Even with the considerable price gap between CCE and CoLa these days, I'd still go with the latter if you can actually find and afford them. That said, Sig III are my favorite Cohiba along with the V. But at today's prices the II is a better value.

If you're looking for the biggest bang for the buck, Sig II gets my vote. They come up on 24:24 pretty frequently at great prices relative to other vendors. IMHO, recent production Sig IIs are as good if not better than Sig IIIs. You can't really go wrong with any of the options, but the Sig II might have the best value prop of all recent production Cohibas.
Greenhorn2 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Both are fantastic smokes. That said, one of the best cuban cigars I have ever had was a sig 2 from a quarter box FoH purchase. It inspired me to buy 2 more boxes.
Cigarsmoker81 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 All are great but if you’ve never tried medio siglo then I highly recommend it. Otherwise I would choose 3 over 2

Appreciate the intel gents! I wasn't aware they were rolled in so many factories.

gormag38 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 My first thought was instantly Sig III. With that being said however, the 2021 Sig II's I have are absolutely phenomenal. The II's definitely have some more power and can scratch that itch you're speaking of. However, if you're looking for an elegant smoke, that you can sit and think on the III is your choice. Haven't tried the MS yet but have heard wonderful things, that could be a good alternative if you're okay with the size
