Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted December 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2022 "Those that know the Bolivar Petit Corona Love them. Those that don't know them, still love them from afar..." -Me I woke up Saturday morning with a three day Holiday weekend in front of me. Walked out the front door to find the temperature had dropped to a bitter 10F. I realize that I am not going to get a great deal of sympathy from our Northern contingent, but 10F is just bloody cold for this Florida transplant. Off to the hardware store and back with my new garage/smoking lounge friend: Mr. Heater!!! He's my new Forced-Air Propane burning bundle of joy. Just in time for the Holidays! He was the last one they had, as all the other North Carolinians also agreed with me that 10F was obscene. $99 for the heater, $80 for the 15 pound propane tank. Should be set for the long weekend. Still unpacking my garage/woodshop tools from the move. I have decided to make a Dutch cheese press over the weekend. If my design is correct, I might make this into a cottage industry. All I have to do is be perfect. The MSU factory (I think the FOH have determined that this is the La Corona code from 18-19?) was swinging for the fences in 2018/19! I have RASS, P2's, BBF, PC, CJ, and some other boxes from there, to the point that I was chasing them on 24/24. These PC's are great examples: Cocoa powder, espresso and some pleasant baking spice. The construction on these are like everything else from MSU in those days. My only regret is that I was fortunate enough to buy three boxes of PSP MSU 19's when they passed by, but burned through those like Grant took Richmond! These ENE 18's are pretty great but a shadow of those '19's. I followed up with 3 boxes of the TUA 20/21's. Time will tell... These are my favorite PC. It leaves me wonting for nothing. Rich, pleasant and satisfying. A 92-93 PC all day. Follow up: MISTER HEATER IS A DRUNK!!! This thing gulps propane faster than I drink beer. For those of you that know me, that says a lot. Next review: Punch Punch, right after going back to the hardware store for another tank of propane... 16 1
Nevrknow Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 You went for heat and you got the alcoholic model. Those beasts blow thru LP. Work great but damn! I have one on a shelf somewhere. Used it once! Then switched to the buddy heaters.🤣 I agree on the Boli. MSU boxes were great. I have a box and a half left. 1
SCgarman Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 This is all you need for garage use. Much easier on the wallet for propane than that monster blower! 3

Dr vonPuffenberg Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Good to know regarding the heater. I think this is my year to get something for the garage. No need to worry about huffing exhaust if I have the door closed? 1

South Carolina usually doesn't see much cold in the winter, but we have been on a cold spell since last weekend. That heater has served me well since about 2017. Worth every penny. 1

I have a 15 lb tank adapter and so far I've used it for 4 or 5 evenings and still have over half a tank. My smoking sessions are usually 4 hours or so watching a game or listening to music. I highly recommend one. I have a tall patio heater that I used to use, but the door definitely needed to be open more and it went through propane in a couple of nights. MossybackR Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 When I was forced to smoke outdoors, I used this tank attachment. As I recall, it didn’t use that much propane, but kicked out warmth — 1

Basically the same as mine minus one burner. 9000btu vs. 18000btu. One tank vs. Two. Basically boils down to how much heat you need and how cold is it outside. I will keep the overhead door just cracked an inch or two otherwise the wife carries on about the garage filling up with cigar smoke. To me the aroma is divine. 2
GVan Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I'm with you on the Boli PCs and CJs as well. I choose which one dependent on how long I have to smoke. PCs 1 hour and 15 +; CJs 45 mins +. My 2018's are still aging as they are stronger than the 2019's. Couldn't agree more on should have bought more of these great little CCs. 1
Midas Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I got a box of the MSU 18’s on 24:24, only had a few and they’ve all been excellent. Always been generally disappointed with Royal Coronas so these were a very nice surprise how good they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
SCgarman Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I have a box of BPC from 2011 and they have gone from flavor bombs when fresh to basically bland and mild. You would think Bolivar has enough punch to last for decades. 1
MossybackR Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 My recent deep dive of lanceros (all Nudies and other NCs) has distracted me from the beauty of a good Boli, but I can’t help but wonder about the Boli Lancero (that CCW indicates was discontinued 20 years ago). I’ve set aside a Boli PC for later enjoyment —thanks for the reminders 😁 1
ayedfy Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Tried one for the first time a few days ago, and concur with the espresso and baking spice notes (didn't pick up the cocoa powder though which others say is a common note). Terrific little cigar. And you'll get no shade complaining about 10 Fahrenheit - I'll whinge to anyone within earshot when the mercury even approaches 10 Celsius! 2

Smoking a MSU JUL 19 right now and it's the best BPC I've had in a decade. 1
