It is just not a Habanos s.a curse.

Check out this cracking line!

“Our Dominican cigar is a very special cigar because it is made with different varieties of tobacco with a certain aging, a very reliable texture for the smoker, and the nicotine level has already become noble due to the aging of its leaves,”

The Dominican Republic promoted some of its best Dominican cigars and rum in New Delhi on Monday, some “flagship products” that also seek to “draw attention” to attract Indian tourism and investment. “Both are Dominican Republic flagship products representing the country’s culture and traditions.” “The idea behind these products is to draw attention not only to the country as a tourist destination but also to business and investment opportunities,” Dominican Ambassador David Puig told EFE.

The event promoted Barceló rum, which was founded in 1930 and, while present in India, must compete with Old Monk, which benefits from “a tradition of consumption” and a more competitive price by avoiding high taxes, according to Puig. “The strategy of Barceló rum,” he says, “is to sell its premium products here in India and position itself in a market with high purchasing power,” with members who “want to try new things.”

Regarding cigars, the ambassador emphasized that, while the Dominican Republic “is the world’s leading producer,” in India, Cubans control 95% of the cigar market, necessitating a change in strategy. “We are convinced that this is a market with vast potential,” he said, referring to a population with increasing resources and cosmopolitanism, “and the cigar has become an element of distinction” both in India and the rest of the world. Moisés Rodriguez, president of the tobacco company La Realeza, prepared live cigars armed with tobacco leaves and various industry instruments to demonstrate the qualities of the Dominican cigar.

“Our Dominican cigar is a very special cigar because it is made with different varieties of tobacco with a certain aging, a very reliable texture for the smoker, and the nicotine level has already become noble due to the aging of its leaves,” he emphasizes. According to Dominican Republic data, bilateral trade with India has increased “consistently in recent years,” reaching 1,000 million dollars in 2020, 700 of which are favorable to the Caribbean country, particularly gold, “followed by ferronickel and, to a lesser extent, cocoa beans.” Imports from India were mostly restricted to the pharmaceutical industry.

The pictures don't differentiate the product beyond a certain extent at a given quality point. They feel they need to paint in the remainder with awkward words. It's sad. It's embarrassing. It works.

i always think that in fairness, a lot of the awkwardness comes from the translation and i suspect the reverse also happens.

but that said, my favourite, mentioned before, was at a press conference in havana for the annual releases etc, where we had been promised a new era of full transparency. when asked what production was for the year, they were happy to provide full transparency. "we can assure everyone that production for this year was more than the previous year but not as much as it will be for the following year."

brilliant.

Fully appreciate that. Except in this case it was given in English in India. :D

The Habanos Festival Gala dinners are notorious. You have Romeo and Barby up on stage using 212 adjectives to describe the new Cohiba Mucho Dinero Enema that is about to deliver world peace and solve global warming.

an old (indian) law lecturer of mine once explained that the problem with english in india is that the indians still use the correct version whereas other countries have twisted and contorted the english language. so their version sounds odd to us.

Similarly, a cigar was recently marketed in the United States as being 100% Maduro. I have difficulty understanding this. Maduro means "mature"..... Shouldn't all the tobacco in every premium cigar be mature? I fear for the future of NCs in this climate of 2nd cigar boom, increased exposure worldwide, and downturn I'm CC quality.

Maduro means "ripe". Extra fermentation.

or as many US manufacturers do .....extra "paint" of one form or another :D

Maybe this is why maduros and I do not get along. At all. CC and NC alike. 🤷

I bet Indians need a visa to visit the DR.  Want to get more Indian tourists, how about lift that requirement if there is one.  Indians are not into cigars.  The LCDH in Delhi struggled.  DR should market an upscale Bidi to Indian consumers, lol.

an attempt to convey a description of a product using zero factual information by a writer who is unfamiliar with the use of the product.

nebulous understanding of cigars, certainly.

There are times when one reflects on the noble art of ageing that the reliability of texture becomes the paramount differentiator. Such is the case with the majesty of Dominican tobacco and rums of a certain quality cue.

Never a comma before "and."
