There are symbols about Cuba in the world that change according to the moment, individual experiences and advertising campaigns, but many remain, invariably, in the popular imagination and identify us. Such is the case of tobacco. He is associated internationally, while for Cubans it is all tradition and culture.

Since ancient times we have related it to the natives of this island, and we even imagine ancestral scenes of aborigines gathered in loincloths, leaning back and slowly smoking a good cohiba: a Taino term that was once used to name what made up this rustic roll, now known as "tobacco".

With the discovery of America, its cultivation and enjoyment spread to other regions, however, the tobacco made in Cuba continues to be preferred for its quality expressed in aromas and flavors. The experts consider it unmatched and it is not for nothing that so many similar criteria make it proudly bear the title of “the best of all”.

Those who know about the subject assure that its excellence has to do with certain conditions that are found only here, such as the climate, the land and also the traditional way of conceiving it from the beginning of the planting process to the table where it is twisted. It is a unique set of factors and the result is a genuine product of the highest quality, valued on five continents.

Habanos SA

In the world to say "Habano" is to speak of distinction, it is a direct reference to the perfect and exclusive, with special care in each phase of its development and conservation, before reaching the hands of the smoker. For this, the Habanos SA corporation contemplates a wide portfolio with 27 registered trademarks. Among them, Cohiba stands out, with more than half a century.

Cohiba is the flagship cigar, it stands out among all for its physical characteristics and, in addition, it has the added value of history, of its emergence, and it is also prestigious for those who prefer it. Cohiba has been the tobacco of choice for celebrities, politicians, and important personalities, starting with Fidel Castro, among others such as Omara Portuondo, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, and many more.

According to the Co-president of Habanos SA, Inocente Núñez Blanco, “it is so established in the market that Cohiba is a product that sells itself. Its best publicity is the quality maintained for years, and, behind it, a centuries-old practice, transferred from one generation to another”; Thus, he speaks passionately about the world of tobacco, while smoking and showing us a 55th Anniversary Limited Edition copy.

Since last year, Habanos SA celebrates the 55th anniversary of its brand par excellence, Cohiba. To this end, it conceived three top-quality products: Cohiba Ambar, Cohiba Ideales, and the most exclusive, Cohiba 55th Anniversary Limited Edition 2021.

Núñez Blanco tells us that “with them in its sights, during all this time the corporation has held events in Cuba and also in its main international sales destinations, where they have had a wonderful reception.

Each vitola has precise organoleptic characteristics that define its size and thickness, with a presentation determined by its format”; although all three agree that the process is entirely by hand, with a long casing.

In all cases, for its preparation, the most select leaves are chosen one by one, harvested in Vegas de Vuelta Abajo, in the province of Pinar del Río, after a rigorous aging process to give them that captivating fragrance and, of course, the taste. .

“That has been the hallmark of Cohiba since it emerged in 1966, paying attention to every detail to preserve the exclusivity that collectors and fans of Premium tobacco expect” —continues the co-president.

The company

Regarding its position in the market, he told us that “it is in a very good moment. Despite the difficulties caused by Covid-19, and other limitations, the Cuban cigar continues to be robust, in great demand, and with high prestige in the world, and that is a source of great satisfaction. Habanos SA, together with the tobacco industry, makes a great effort to maintain its presence in the international market”.

"The company is constantly renewing itself, and as customers are used to with the standard portfolio, and the novelties, the products offered now are high-end luxury products and a lot is expected of them."

Núñez Blanco also said that the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2022) “generated considerable expectations because many clients came to request distribution possibilities in different countries. His proposals were heard and at this moment they are submitted to the pertinent assessments”.

“As usual, for the month of February the most important event in the industry will return: the Habano Festival. For its 23rd edition, Habanos SA exquisitely prepares a program of activities with many surprises. The gala night will be dedicated to the Partagás brand”.

That's a great piece in preparation for the release of Cohiba's next limited edition, Ficcion.

Lol.  Reminded me of "halitosis," another worthless marketing term for the masses.

Pretty sure the piece is written in Spanish and what we are reading is the product of a translation app.  But yeah, there are some funny descriptors in there.

Correct. If you read the original article (in espanol) it does come across a little differently, albeit still propagandist.
