I love Mebourne Cup Day!

One of the biggest horse races in the world, the country comes to a halt, the populace pretends to work until about 11am, hell the state of Victoria is on holiday, girls wearing pretty hats and not much else, the 1:30 PM race, the 1:33 PM cheers and tears, Artie wins the trifecta again, boozy secretary telling the boozy boss  exactly what she thinks at 3PM, The 4PM plan to win all our money back on the last at Brisbane, the hail mary bets at 5pm  to win back what we lost at 4pm on Race 1Johannesburg,

It's bedlam. The cigar deck is packed. It is a once a year punters nightmare.

Post your tips and updates with pictures on this thread :D

Did you also mention St Equine, the patron Saint of long odd tips the other day? 😁

I am praying to St Equine right now with one hand on the gospel of Sportsbet  :D

Those pictures are like Kentucky Derby meets Oktoberfest.

I never go for trifecta. always play the odds on win place show individual bets.

Yawn 🥱  😂

One of my best mates prefers to relax and drink beers at the races so he figured out that the #2 saddlecloth has the highest winning percentage so he calls himself Numbertwoallday in our 'bets with mates' group. He just puts all his bets on early, backing the #2 all over the country. Ha ha! Race 1 today was, of course, won by the 2 at $28. He's already paid for his day. On the cup itself, it's a difficult day to pick a winner. Always is. I will wait to see if we get more rain before betting. Will be putting on a 6 horse trifecta for $25 for 20% and have backed some future betting on some horses at longer odds. The favourite looks the goods but if it doesn't get the trip then it's a turkey shoot. Well worth taking a few horses each way that have run the distance before. All the best punters. And can't wait for the pics of drunken ladies covered in mud after falling over in high heels on the grass and young guys in cheap suits with bad sunglasses looking very shabby after a big day. Thank god I don't go anymore. Ha ha! I'm getting old.

Stan has given us his tip for the Melbourne Cup.

8, 6,  24, 3

Stan's form has been ......shaky...:lookaround:

If he was a hose it would read:

Enthusiastic performer who jumps out early but rarely seen when the whips are cracking

Reminds me of the Carolina Cup in SC where I did most of my growing up... it was a big deal to see a horse as you were soo plowed from all the pre race activities... My last one over 25 years ago was not pretty... I assure you :)

Great day! Late finish!

Greg pulled us out of the mire with his horse 2 race 7 win late out of Brisbane. He picked up 10K and the rest of us covered our losses for the day.

Now we put away our betting apps for another year :D

Melbourne Cup looks like a classy affair compared to 'Ladies Day' at Ascot.       Carnage

I managed to pick the winner in the Melbourne Cup. Pity I only had a $1.20 left in my Sportsbet app for the bet. Still, a win is a win. And then I parlayed that into a win at OzLotto later that evening. So I'm up $80 for the day! :rotfl:

Got sent a video in a group chat with mates featuring some stylish young ladies in a bitch fight while leaving the Melbourne Cup. Hilarious but probably too viscous to post here. Cheers.
