Love me some Jimmy Buffett! Have been to a handful of shows after my uncle who used to drive for him when he went to Raleigh hooked me up with tickets in 2009. Threw a pretty good pre-party before the show in Cincinnati last year. Was thinking there may be some overlap between the FOH and Parrothead communities.

Always have been. Beach life is THE life.

Surely is a good one. Just made it back from Mexico a few weeks ago. Hard to not consider some property down there for what you can get for the price! Ever see any cigar action at the Buffett tailgating?

Can’t be calling myself Islandboy and not be a Buffet fan! He was my main source of philosophy in my formidable college years in the early 80’s. Been to several shows here on Maui. Good times.

Living on the Alabama gulf coast, I have been to several impromptu Jimmy Buffet mini concerts. His sister, Lucy, would give us a call when Jimmy was in town. A dozen or so folks, and Jimmy, barefooted, playing the guitar and singing. Good times...

I miss the old Lulu’s on Weeks Bay. Laid back. Had a lot of good times there. Heard her brother would show now and then, but was never lucky enough to be there when he was.
Inquired about you at Bouch’s a few weeks ago. They said they heard you were in jail. 😂

I have been spending quite a bit of time at my farm. Building new roads through some timberland I  purchased.

Nice to meet a fellow Cincinnatian! I'm up in the west chester area.

I think the last time I saw him live was in Raleigh in ~1994. I vaguely remember a show in Auburn in '88 when I was in HS.  I eventually decided that I wasn't into the Margaritaville empire and mostly stopped listening (though I do every once in a while and still like his stuff up to where I left off).

I purchased Sirius/XM just for Margaritaville...been on there steady for going on 6 years without turning the station.

Man, I sure wish Sirius was available here in Hawaii. You’d think after all these years a guy like Elon would have found a solution to this by now.

not a "parrothead" here but...

the OG 'head' is of course deadhead and for the follow up (but now at almost 40 years, not so new) phish'head'.... generally can pass on the parrot rather easily. (although a warm summer saturday night, near the water, there are worse things to listen to than Buffett)

This sounds amazing. Wish I could have been around for that! I don't think I've caught any big name impromptu experiences but that's got to be a great time.

I'm with you there too. Seen them both live. One of my sets of 6 sirius channels is Phish, the Dead, and Buffett. That's my summertime channel lineup. I've got 90s country, bluegrass, and I think Dave Matthews channel on there as well (DMB was my first ever show). I don't do a ton of live music, but the first time seeing Buffett and Phish landed in the same year, and they remain the two best shows and experiences I've had at a concert and the surrounding activities.

Got my mom out to Buffett in Cincy last year, and I don't think she's changed it off the Margaritaville channel since then, and hadn't listen to him prior. I think having two of her sons, two of her brothers, and getting handed a "cigar" unexpectedly, followed by Mother Ocean, she was done for!

First Buffett concert was at the Universal Amphitheatre (Los Angeles, California) in 1978.  The "Cheeseburger in Paradise" tour.  Imagine my surprise, as a young teenager, that the real party was in the parking lot.  I remember the gals, but nothing about the show!

I think it's the same gals still going to the shows! 😂

I'm not a parrothead, but I like Jimmy Buffet.  I have seen him play at a little bar venue near my summer house a couple of times.  He pops in there every few summers to play, sometimes announced, and sometimes not.

I don’t dislike Jimmy Buffett (I live on an island wiith the water in my back yard, that would be highly inconsistent)…but I’m not a die hard fan.

I just remarked just the other day as I was driving down 95 in Florida and saw a billboard for the Margaritaville cruise lines and mentioned to my wife what an unbelievable brand that guy has built. They have literally everything from shot glasses to cruise ships and megahotels and everything in between. Wanna live the Jimmy Bufffett life? How about this beach chair? Genius. You can have your Landshark Lager while you’re at it.

I’ll also say every time I hear Cheeseburger in Paradise I want a cheeseburger. Luckily I already live in paradise.

Sounds like you just need a margaritaville grill!
