Puros Y Vino Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 So. I'm a bit confused. An EL released as an RE? Is Phoenicia having the first official launch or are they the worldwide distributor as well?

They can then say it was released. 4 2
NSXCIGAR Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 "Launch" and release are two different things. Many cigars are released years after launch. RyJ Linea Oro, for example, were launched a very long time ago. These are on the standard EL release timeline. 2023. 3
Eric05 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I think we are on delay because of the boxes not so much the cigars. Habanos going to the fancy boxes is nice but time consuming.
asudevil08 Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 so what are we talking here - price of a box of siglo IIIs? 2
Popular Post Carrie Nation Posted April 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 19, 2022 The Cohiba Novedosos got its cute little debutante ball back in 2019, and they still haven’t been released so don’t hold your breath here. Maybe a few retailers from other countries can buy boxes of the 55 in Beirut and resell them at home for even more insane pi$$-in-your-face prices. Not that any of this preening Habanos buffoonery really matters…this is a hard pass for me. The Cohiba Robusto Supremos absolutely sucked, and the Talisman sucked only slightly less...both releases. Sublimes were good young, but aged out way too early and are no longer worth lighting up. These Aniversarios will be just another bloated, over-priced gagger with a shiny Cohiba band. The 1966 was the only good Cohiba EL and continues to age nicely. Put your money and your mouth there. If you see 1966’s on BR, buy them. 6

It may be a payment issue for the boxes, but some factory in the Netherlands or somewhere else can knock these things out, no problem. We haven't heard word of any fancy box shortages in the NC world, have we? Meanwhile there are still a Myriad of very real issues on the island affecting cigar production. No factory is back to 100% capacity, countless talented managers and rollers left over the last two years, its a mess. I would place the blame for this late release (and every late release over the last 10 + years) squarely on the shoulders of Tabacuba. 1

Roughly 10% of the markup their charging for them. Haha. I would happily pay double that for any of the 4 new/fancy box designs.

Habanos going to the fancy boxes is nice but time consuming. They've been consistently behind with the ELs since 2016. The Trini Topes was the last to be released in its stated year. And they hadn't started with the fancy boxes until 2019. In fact all special production started to get derailed around that time. Several of the 2015 ERs didn't get released until well into 16. It's possible that they had a bit of a leaf shortage at that time as there had been a run of average or below harvests in the early 2010s. They may have actually been on track to catch up until the pandemic hit. 2
