MoeFOH Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 There is one undisputed (I should imagine) king in the "should have stopped category" - Godfather 3. With the already tainted Ghostbusters series about to get another instalment - I think GB Afterlife is due out in the US this week? - and The Matrix 4 in the pipeline... Top Gun: Maverick in 2022... will we be doing this or this ? What are your thoughts on how these and any others will fare? The best and worst of franchises and their instalments? And what about a single movie or franchise you think should have had another crack but didn't? Post em up! 3

Popular Post RichG Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 No Star Wars movies should have been made other than IV - VI. 10
Popular Post Bijan Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 The original star trek movie was pretty bad. 2 and 4 were classics though. 6
Popular Post williamthewolf Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 Terminator didn't need more after T2. Predator didn't need sequels either. 12
Popular Post BigGuns Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 Great topic - to address the sequels you mentioned coming up, I'm curious about Top Gun (thinking more of a bomb than a hit) and the other two are interesting - both should have stopped (after 2 for Ghostbusters, 1 for Matrix), but I am all in on seeing the latest installments. As for what should have continued - I always wanted that follow up to Rock n Rolla that never came. The Sopranos should have been left untarnished (a unique TV Show/movie hybrid to this consideration) and DC Comics should have stopped making movies years ago unless they just have Christopher Nolan make Batman movies from here on out. 5
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 Terminator franchise already mentioned. Although I'm a die hard Alien franchise fan, and I still watch 3, and 4, neither of those movies really needed to be made. And don't even get me started on the Predator vs. Aliens movies or Alien Covenant or Prometheus. Again I watch them because I'll watch all kinds of garbage but they were not great movies. Die Hard should have stopped at 1. 7
Ford2112 Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Conan the Barbarian to me is an underrated classic and should have been given a proper run. Although I'm sure Arnold wasn't complaining. Die Hard should have ended after the first one. 2
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 The Blues Brothers. An epic tale of what in some ways every professional musician has gone through in some form or fashion. The Blues Brothers 2000. Why Dan? Oh why?... 8 1

williamthewolf Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Lethal Weapon will soon have a 5th installment. Don't know what to say to that. And as for Mad Max, I was good with the first two with Gibson. As much as I love over the top 80's I couldn't get into Beyond Thunderdome. The reboot Fury Road was great and hopefully the follow up is just as fun. 1

Popular Post Cletus Posted November 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2021 Tremors is a classic. There are five or six more that I've only been bits and pieces of - enough to know they should have never been made. I love the first three Die Hard movies but the series should have stopped there. I really enjoyed The Matrix but not the 2nd and 3rd installments. I am looking forward to the new one. Can we mention remakes? Papillon is one of my all-time favorite movies. I cannot bring myself to watch the 2017 remake. Why did someone think it needed to be remade?? 5

BigGuns Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 What's with all the Die Hard hate??? Inject it all into my veins. (I'll hear arguments that the latest could have been done without, however) 3 1
rckymtn22 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Ted was alright some laughs. Ted 2 was terrible couldn't take it after 20 minutes. Anchorman ok and Anchorman 2 lasted about 10 minutes. 1

JZA1 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Robocop was good and deserved better sequels. 4

Yeah it almost continued with the next generation movies. 1 there (Generations) was bad, 2 (First Contact) was good, but 3 and 4 were not that great, and maybe 4 was even worse. 1
Popular Post La_Tigre Posted November 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 17, 2021 Idiocracy. Although, didn’t need a second one filmed. We are currently living it. 😂 2 5
Chas.Alpha Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 What if Slim Pickens had parachuted to safety just before the bomb blew up in Dr. Strangelove?... 1
