It's getting cold here in Idaho and I'm having a harder and harder time committing to going outside and lighting up a cigar.

What's your cold weather smoking setup?  Does your palate change during the cold months?

Electric heater (infrared) and heated clothes (hoodie, socks and gloves). Hope to eventually partially enclose my deck to deal with the wind.

If anything it's better/more consistent as humidity differences have less of an effect on cigars in the cold.

But if the cold makes you suffer, it will affect your enjoyment even though it may not affect your palate.

Hi @oneizzzz. I live in Boise! If you’re nearby, perhaps we could meet up one day somewhere in the Treasure Valley: Sturman’s in Boise, The Vault in Meridian, V-Cut in Nampa…

I have a heated jackets but didn’t get gloves, as I wasn’t sure if the dexterity they would allow was good for smoking a cigar. Which ones do you use?

I hate wearing gloves when smoking so I ended up getting pretty heavy ones and only wear one on the hand that is not holding the cigar.

I'll probably try to find some lighter ones at some point.

The ones I have are from Amazon. Some random Chinese brand, benefit is that the socks and gloves use the same batteries and extra batteries are cheap. You have to be really careful with Amazon though as more than half the search results are sponsored junk.

Down to 66 some mornings here. Not looking forward to the low 50's that happen on occasion. Figure I'll deal with it.

I do reviews down to around -17F or so and layers are always my friend. Thick, insulated socks with winter boots. A base thermal layer, with two layers on top and then a parka and snow pants as my outer later.

I also sometimes use a reflective foil roll on my chair to try and trap some of my body heat.

In an ideal world the worst I'd be in is a heated garage.
