I will put this one out to you good people as you are far more experienced in these matters. :cigar:

Hey rob.

I was hoping i you could tell me if the following is a fair trade. I am not across the value of items and although it isn't the most important thing I want to make sure things are balanced.

I want to trade a   12 count box of Trinidad Robusto T 2011  + a box of 25 San Cristobal Muralla (2008) for  a box of Behike 52  2012 and a box of Behike 54 2013.

Does that sound about right to you?

Seems like a very fair deal. The Robusto T’s are only going to get rarer and make up for the differential in initial price.

True John but I wouldn't be giving up Trini T's and Muralla (excellent cigar) for Behike. That's just me and hence why I didn't want to respond without consulting. He knows I am asking members.

I actually missed that the Trinis were 12s, not 24s. In that case I would estimate the value for the Trini & Muralla to be about $2,000. The Behikes are going to be in the high $2,000s. So a bit of difference.

And as Rob notes, we're talking pure market value. Personally, I wouldn't give up Trini RTs or Muralla either.

If it helps, I asked the question to an established B&M in HK and they said it's a good deal if they can get the trade done without extra money.

They value brands like Cohiba much more and the Behike is the pinnacle.

Just a perspective.

Was the Trini T a bad seller? Didn't last long in production at all.

No, not necessarily. However, in comparison to Cohiba products at the time it was and therefore Habanos S.A decided to re-brand the Trinidad marca in an attempt to re-vitalise its 'premium status'.

Trading vintage and discontinued IMO has a bit more "value". BHK is "technically" still being made.  Those two boxes are from the better years. IIRC 2014 and onwards the BHK quality was somewhat diminished due to scarcity of Medio Tiempo leaf.  Of which the crops ruined by tropical storms are to blame.  With that said, the BHK's are no slouches age wise either. It's a tough one. We know BHK will sell for good $;s, but the other two have no replacements waiting in the wings. I've smoked several Rob T's against BHK52's and found the Trinidad to be superior (IMO).  The 54's are the real winners on that side.  If I were to be holding those BHK's and making that trade I'd probably pull the trigger, especially if I knew, trusted and liked the other person. I'd be getting a lot more cigars to enjoy over time.

I agree. If it were myself I’d be happy to be acquiring the Rob T & Muralla.

Honestly i wouldn’t do the trade. Better off keeping what he has. Also smoke them. Sure holding onto stuff is great but damn cigars were rolled to smoke.

While it is true that Habanos SA has announced that the Robusto Extra and Robusto 'T' have been discontinued, both are to be replaced by new vitolas in the near future.

Here we see HSA's definition of "near future"--7 years.

I think cutting the Robustos Extra was a big mistake. The Robustos could be "replaced" by the Vigia but seeing as how popular Robustos Extra vitolas have continued to be, and the success of the La Trova tells me this would have been a winner.

And now we have arguably the most popular Trini being a Short Robustos.

Definitely a strange call to introduce both only to kill them 3 years later. The only other cigar like that I can think of is the RyJ Piramides that lasted about two years in 01-02. But those cigars were awful anyway.

I love the Robusto T's, but the Muralla were just "pretty good" on the original release and little less so on the next batch.  Certainly look incredible.  I don't think I would trade my Behikes (if I had any at t moment) for those two.
