Zoom Meetings for Work

9am meeting. 
 

Im on vacation so I’m kicked back on the rear deck. Coffee in hand. Dog at my feet. Relaxing and fire up a Sig VI. No big deal.

Owner gets on and insists everyone turn on their cams.

Immediately my phone’s texts start blowing up. I had no idea there were so many cigar smokers in the company! The first 2 questions were general but then they started talking about box codes. Who knew? Learn something everyday.

Small world after all huh? 😀

I'm the only cigar smoker in the entire US operations as far as I can tell. It's a lonely feeling but at the same time prevents the opportunity for awkward work socialization.

Lol, I smoke on our zoom meetings frequently.  I pick and choose times depending on who's watching, but people who I work with and know me understand the cigar aspect of my daily life. It's certainly a plus of working from home!

In the mine site in Mali I had IT setup the wifi to reach the back of building where I had my smoking bench. It was added to the meeting room list as “Mus’ Office”. General managers, even the CEO came there when we had budget meetings or discussions. Me smoking a cigar or pipe, them talking and me going through my data to tell them how shit their ideas were. Fun times 😂

Was on a Zoom a few weeks back with one of our top Execs and was smoking a cigar, not thinking about it. Most of the team know.

Anyway, JB sees me take a puff and says "are you smoking a cigar?". Well, of course.

He says "That's frigging awesome!"

All good.

Our CEO loves cigars, big time. I curate his humidor, it’s been fun...and very good overall professionally. My most important professional mentor loves cigars too...the number of hours we have spent together smoking in between meetings, while traveling, or after work made our friendship really. Cigars are a product of love and facilitate bond over them...good conversations, shared enthusiasm, it’s the best.

I have a Zoom session nearly every night for about 90 minutes consulting my college students on all things related to Audio Production and Sound Design for video games. I always have a smoke and thankfully so far all of my students think it’s cool.

I only bust out the Scotch though when I am able to have my camera off.
