Do they play it up for their YouTube audience? Absolutely. If you're watching them with the intent of learning new things about the cigars they're smoking, its not the place for you. If you're wanting to watch two guys who enjoy cigars and ramble about nonsense, its worth a watch. Expand I was going to type something but he already said it. I thoroughly enjoy watching them for what they are...entertainment. 3
VictorEremita Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 I've watched several of their episodes and enjoyed them, had some good laughs. They're dolled-up cartoon characters—and that on purpose of course. One doesn't watch their "reviews" as reviews. (Much of the time they're smoking unobtainable cigars, anyway.) One just enjoys their comic rapport and absurd banter. That said, although they're personae, these loafers in luxuries, I get the feeling that Father Nick has been doing it long enough that he's halfway become the character he plays.
dangolf18 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 I didn't think any British people talked like that anymore (specifically the way the father speaks). They put on quite a good show albeit the way they speak gets a bit tiresome/annoying...it's how I imagine English people spoke in the turn of the century.
ha_banos Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Many a true word spoken in jest. What what. 1

I take their channel as something they do not treat too seriously and not as a cigar review because, as stated before, they typically do not smoke cigars that are available. Its entertainment to me and being that most of what we see now is negative or done in a virtually screaming, overhyped format I do enjoy their videos. The dandy stuff certainly doesn't fit me but it is just something I regard as an individual affectation, nothing to bother myself about. This being a father and son enjoying something together makes it more enjoyable to me. Everyone has an opinion, unfortunately it seems as though a negative opinion is more regarded and travels farther than a positive one, regardless of why. 1
Popular Post bergstrom Posted November 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2022 I’ve met max. He’s a solid dude. We talked about vintage motorcycles for an hour. He was very interested in my 57 panhead and I was had a lot of questions about his 70s era Kawasaki. Honestly I think it’s refreshing (maybe because I am a younger person) to see faces like his, rather than exclusively older men with fat RG cigars critically discussing Cuban tobacco. Idk, In America cigar “culture” can be kinda gross, and I struggle to identify/connect with it. But meeting and seeing guys like Max, kinda gave me hope that it’s not just greasy old guys (who I do love as well) who are into cigars. 6
Jerryvonkramer Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I watch these guys on occassion. I generally HATE the American-market YouTube videos that dominate the YT algo and search bar, so it's a job to find people talking about CCs at all. My favourites for years have been Rob and Ken, of course, and I like the Longue Lizards, as well as JohnS (post more videos mate!), Cigar Smoker UK, and The Stogie Lads. There's also a chap called Puro Paul who posts sparingly, but is clearly an aficionado. Cigar Inspector talks a bit too much about draw and construction for my tastes. My main issue with Foulkes & Son is the poncy focus on clothes, cufflinks, and stuff like that. I am sure I saw one where they were literally talking about perfume. I respect Foulkes though and have his book, knows his stuff. His taste is definitely more towards milder smokes. He seems to live in mortal fear of Bolivar. If anyone knows of any other decent channels let me know. I generally love watching cigar reviews. 1 1
