Popular Post CaptainQuintero Posted April 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 2, 2021 A chance to revisit a cigar that is sometimes talked about here as a modern day legend and stand out success of the Regional Edition programme. I had to double check the box date on cubancigarwebsite as no way did I think these were a 2007 release. Time certainly flows fast these days! Por Larranaga is one of my top marca, there's something about that toasty sweetness that always manages to bring out some magic, these never disappoint for me. Heavy dank sweetness at cold, draw is perfect Cuban-style. Immediately on lighting the smoke begins to flow down the length of the cigar and over my wrist, it's a densely packed stick and the smoke seems to flow down out of it like honey. There's an immediate richness to the smoke, a solid core of peach and slightly charred cream. Not something I particularly remember in these, if anything it brings my first sampling of the 2011 Cohiba 1966 EL to mind. It's peach melba and sugar work. The first third continues with the same sweet stone fruit theme, the charred cream keeping right up with it. There's the familiar slightly sweetened toast that PL seems to nail consistently. Second third comes in with such a smooth transition that I hardly notice. Again there's a strong caramelised peach and cream core but a slight darkness has crept in, the cream has more of a touch of creme brulé aspect to it now. Progressing and there's gentle floral perfume and a jasmine tea character begins to appear. The balance in these is remarkable, but they do have some decent years on them now, a testimony to patience. Final third and surprisingly that peach is still here, usually that tends to fade away. The velvet heavy perfume has come streadily right to the fore but it's no brutal assault, it's taking turns to lilt in with the jasmine tea. Blueberry jam begins to build as the cigar enters its final stretch I'm a huge fan of these but even I'm blown away by an almost perfect showing here. It's one of those reminders of why we do this. 98/100 15 3
NSXCIGAR Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Bought a few singles of these in Hong Kong in 07. Wasn't impressed. Should have held on to them.
david9985 Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 What a review! Well described as always and sounds a great experience. 1

Thanks! Would be great to hear what you think of them when you get your mits on them, they seem to be pretty consistent box to box from my experience

They magically appeared yesterday, so now it’s just the 30-60 day rest period. 1

The tobacco gods are one of the most underrated in the pantheon of first world hobby deities but they usually deliver! 1

I received my box a couple days ago as well. Check back in when you give yours a try! I'm going to try my best to forget I have them for now, haha. 1
